Guest guest
First let me say, Greetings from Maine to everyone on the board. I've been having a difficult time lately and really need this type of board. My daughter, Addie, is 10 with a birthday in May. I'm noticing her body changing. We've begun some discussions, I've just finished a social story. I realize lately that I need to attend some workshops/conferences about girls with autism getting older. I've noticed her fears and anxiety are heightened. Now she's so afraid of getting a " shock " at school. (Note to self: buy stock in Static Spray) I'm also seeing this change in her behavior. She fights me on everything. Example: Mom: " Time for a tubby. " Addie: " I don't want to have a bath. " Mom: " Ok, you have a choice, bath or shower. " Addie: No. Mom: You've played hard and need a bath or shower, now which one do you want Addie? " Addie: No. This exchange is just unheard of for her. She knows that what I say I mean. It's like starting all over again, only now, I see this wild range of emotions... anger, sadness, happy... Is this just going to be a wild ride? Thoughts... comments... Anyone aware of workshop for girl tweens? Many thanks.. Heidi
