Guest guest
Help! Melody is a 4.5 year old, high functioning Autistic. She will be mainstreamed into Kindergarten in September. They want to take her diagnosis away because she's doing so well, however, we still have our problems with her. One of the problems is that she can be a bit obsessive about certain things. One of those things is the Christmas tree. Last year I put the tree up and blocked it off the best I could, but she climbed over every barrier I put up and basically ruined the tree because she kept pulling the ornaments off and playing with them. I really WANT to have a Christmas tree this year, but just don't know how to keep her little hands off of it! I'd love to hear any ideas that you may have on this subject, or if any of you have had similar problems with your children (Autistic or not) with the tree, and what you have done. There are a lot of great ideas out there for toddlers, but she's beyond the toddler stage, and is quite a climber. thanks for listening!
