Local Southern Californians Can Benefit From Autism Partnership's Summer Social Programs June 21 - August 27, 2010    STAR-fish          Social          Time          And          Recreation For Ages 3 - 4 Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 – 11:30a in Seal Beach This program uses ABA strategies to develop age-typical play and social skills.  Both indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities are provided.  Observational learning, joint attention and other skills needed for group learning and participation are emphasized. Opportunities for parent education and participation will be included. TEACHES:    ◠ Social Interest  Awareness    ◠ Play Skill Development, including        playground games, imaginative/thematic        play and interactive play    ◠ Group Activity/Play Skills, including        turn-taking  sharing    ◠Social Communication         SPARKS, Jr.          School          Prep          and          Recreation          Klub this          Summer! For Ages 4 -5 Tuedays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 12 n– 3p in Seal Beach This program uses ABA strategies to focus on the skills needed for group learning and classroom readiness, age-typical play and social skills development, and increased behavioral awareness.  Both indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities are provided, with an emphasis on cooperative interaction. This group practices maintaining behavior control while participating in collaborative activities. Goals also include maintaining appropriate levels of interest and excitement during a variety of age-related activities. TEACHES:   ◠Relationship Development   ◠Recognizing and Responding to Non-      Verbal Social Cues    ◠Group ation  Collaboration   ◠Expanded Range of Interests   ◠Popular Culture   ◠Stress Management/Frustration Tolerance   ◠Self  Social Awareness   ◠Behavioral Regulation  Self-Monitoring   iClub     for positive teen interaction For Ages  14-17  Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30 – 5:30p In Seal Beach This co-ed group focuses on higher-level social skills such as perspective taking, social reciprocity and sustained conversation.   Students will receive instruction in self-monitoring of their behavior and practice skills in a social context.  Expanding the student’s knowledge of popular culture and teen interests are a focus of this group. TEACHES:   ◠Social Reciprocity   ◠ Perspective Taking  Social Awareness   ◠ Sustained Conversation   ◠ Popular Culture  Expanded Interests   ◠Frustration Tolerance/Stress Management   ◠Behavioral Awareness and Self-Monitoring    To request enrollment, please submit the REQUEST FOR SERVICE form (available under Services tab on www.autismpartnership.com.)  If the Clinical teams feel your child may benefit from the other children participating and the curriculum offered, we will have your child come in to an immediate interview.  This preview will allow us to confirm that your child will benefit from attending the group this summer.
