Guest guest
Reg Reynolds Emotional problems are the psychologist's stock-in-trade, i.e., as a general rule, anxiety, depression, etc. are the main conditions that psychologists treat, usually quite easily. Again, as a general rule, systematic desensitization or one of its variants is a treatment of choice. I would suggest that you also have a look at the NLP (neurolinguistic programming) Fast Phobia Cure, and one of my favourites, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) which can be found at www.emofree.com. She is 27 now. When she was younger she had almost all of the criteria that is needed for an autism diagnosis. Normally she would speak in only one or two words. This is when she was 5. Back 22 years ago in Portland, OR area there was nothing for autism. Due to constant bullying in school she had her first break down. We moved to Yelm, WA 10 years ago. The University of Washington Tacoma branch is now accepting adults but only up to the age of 25. As I mentioned in my first post she knows so many other autistics that are also bipolar or schizophrenic. We talked to her psychologist about this and she said it was more common then we may think. She thinks it is due to the extreme stress and anxiety so many adults with autism have. <snip>
