Guest guest
This has been talked about for several months now, by people who are fairly new to the group--that most women do better on 4.5 mg and most men on 3 mg. I've been taking LDN, at 3 mg, since December 2004 I'm not saying this information is wrong. I would simply like to know where it comes from. For example, Dr. Bihari has over 400 MS patients. Has it come from him? , if you are doing fine on 3 mg, why would you change? I have not been checking in that regularly, so forgive me if I've missed prior discussion. Guest guest
just from males and females in this group and around the web all finding that females seem to find 4.5 better and males, 3.0 This is only from reports of what people have posted as doing. Everyone should try 3.0 and 4.5 at some point for comparison. Me, personally, I was on 3.0 for 300 days, did 4.5 for 38 days, back to 3.0 for another 6 months, did 14 days of 4.5 and have been on 3.0 ever since. So 52 of 745 days were 4.5 [low dose naltrexone] Re: 3 mg vs. 4.5 mg This has been talked about for several months now, by people who are fairly new to the group--that most women do better on 4.5 mg and most men on 3 mg. Guest guest
I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER AND NEITHER DOES ANYONE ELSE. HOWEVER, MORE WOMEN GET MS THAN MEN. IT IS USUALLY IN THE LATE 30'S WHICH MAY BE INDICATIVE OF HORMONAL CHANGES. THEREFORE, WOMEN ON AN AVERAGE , NEED TO BE REGULATED OR ORCHESTRATED MORE THAN MEN. THUS NEEDING A HIGHERDOSE. LASTLY, I AM ON 3.0 AND DO NATURAL HORMONE BALANCING WHICH MAY BE WHY MY BODY SEEMS TO DO WELL ON 3.0 KATHY [low dose naltrexone] Re: 3 mg vs. 4.5 mg This has been talked about for several months now, by people who are fairly new to the group--that most women do better on 4.5 mg and most men on 3 mg. Guest guest
ANOTHER REALLY VALID POINT. WE HAVE TO LOOK AT OUR HISTORY AND SEE WHAT WE THINK IS CAUSING FLARE-UPS OR WHICH FILLER OR DOSE WE FEEL BETTER ON. THERE ARE NO MAGIC BULLETS SO FAR BUT THE MORE AWARENESS YOU HAVE OF YOUR BODY THE BETTER. OTHERS CAN HELP YOU ALONG THE WAY BUT ULTIMATELY YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS. THE ALTERNATIVE IS USUALLY PROGRESSION.MY MOTHER IS 73 AND ON NO MEDS. MY DAD IS 87 AND JUST STARTED ON MEDS 3 YEARS AGO. WERE THEY LUCKY? MY DAD WAS A FARMER. WE ATE STRAIGHT FROM THE GARDEN ALWAYS HAVING THE FRESHEST OF PRODUCE AND HE RAISED CATTLE. WE ATE HEALTHY AND BREATHED COUNTRY AIR. I THINK MY MS CAME FROM A TB VACCINATION. MY COUSIN AND I BOTH HAVE MS AND WE WERE BOTH AROUND THE SAME AGE WHEN WE GOT THE VACCINATIONS. DR. NEIPER BELIEVED VACCINATIONS WERE ONE OF THE MAJOR CAUSES FOR MS. HE ALSO BELIEVED DISTEMPER IN PUPPIES WAS MS IN PEOPLE. THEREFORE HE VEHEMENTLY STATED NO DOGS FOR MSERS. I KNOW THIS IS OFF TOPIC BUT I WANT THE GROUP TO HEAR WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FRIEND LAST YEAR WHO IS A PHARMACIST. SHE GOT A FLU SHOT. TWO DAYS LATER SHE HAD OPTIC NEURITIS AND HER SPINAL CORD FELT LIKE IT WAS BURNING. THEY GAVE HER MASSIVE DOSES OF STEROIDS BUT TO NO AVAIL. FINALLY HER SYMPTOMS SUBSIDED BUT SHE HAS MUCH RESIDUAL DAMAGE. THEY TOLD HER THEY THOUGHT SHE HAD MS BUT MRI SAID NO. HER LIFE HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAME. I AM TRYING TO GET HER TO TAKE LDN AND SHE IS CONSIDERING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT SHE HAS TO LOSE AND DON'T UNDERSTAND HER INDECISIVENESS BUT IT IS NOT FOR ME TO JUDGE. I JUST KNOW I LOVE HER. Guest guest
isn't that what Larry just said? Guest guest
Right, that's the theory .. but someone else hypothesized that for those doing better on 3.0, that 4.5 blocks too long, and may interfere with the power push that a shorter blockade would give. The theory being that it's blocking Too long. Perhaps there's a maximum production, any longer of a blockade doesn't yield more, it just blocks whatever is there from getting out to start it's job for the day. Don't know... just considering the point that was brought up a long while ago Re: [low dose naltrexone] Re: 3 mg vs. 4.5 mg> ==========If the blockade lasts longer on 4.5mg then the body is producing more endorphins during that blockade on 4.5mg than 3.0mg. Guest guest
Larry, you recommend that people should try both 3 and 4.5 mg to see which works best. That may be true for some. On the LDN website, however, it states that people who are experiencing/have experienced spasticity, stiffness, etc., should probably stick to 3. When I began taking LDN over a year ago, this statement was not there. It is something that Dr. Bihari has come to after feedback from his patients. Guest guest
Marcie, did you tried, or considered higher dosage? Like 5.00mg, 5.50mg, 6.00mg? It has remained the same. I'm sticking with 4.5mg since in my case it doesn't seem to effect stiffness. Marcie Discover Use to plan a weekend, have fun online more. Check it out!
