Mandi,

Of course, this is just my opinion, but speaking as a woman who has had two

children with this disease, I can tell you that, yes, my symptoms were better

during pregnancy. But, in between and after, I still had symptoms and flares

while using birth control.

Interestingly, right after the birth of both of my children, (within a year) I

flared horribly, more so than ever. The year after my daughter was born was the

worst, I was hospitalized and had Pericarditis and they had to remove over a

pint of fluid from around my heart. I have always found that significant.

Don't know if that meant that when hormones return to " normal " things go haywire

or not, but that was my experience with both of my kids.

For me, the biggest trigger is STRESS. I can always count on this dragon to

show up when I am weak in that area! I have heard others here say the same

thing.

I guess what I am saying is... I was on the Pill during all this and it never

seemed to make a difference. I now use a different type of birth control as I

am prone to blood clots, so they yanked me off of it 8 years ago.

Have a good weekend!

This is probably a reach but I keep reading that RA usually is in remission

during pregnancy and then flares after giving birth. So under that thinking

would going on Birth Control Pills which as far as I know work by tricking

the body into thinking its pregnant lessen the RA symptoms any???

Just a thought.

Hi Mandi,

I went off BC about 6-8 months ago and I notice absolutely no

difference in my symptoms. Not to say it might not help you, but just

letting you know that for me it doesn't seem to matter.
