Guest guest
My youngest is in LOVE with the vanilla soymilk made by silk. One could argue that it's probably better than regular milk nutritionally speaking. just my two cents ashley Subject: milkTo: Texas-Autism-Advocacy Date: Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 1:16 PM ok, i have two boys with autism and my third is 11 months old. he's progressing great, but i still want to keep him away from shots right now and gluten and casien. but he's about to turn one, which he's supposed to turn from formula to fresh milk, but what am i supposed to give him, if he can't drink milk? in a way i want to give him milk, but then if theres a chance i can stop him from developing autistic behaviors, shouldn't i go with it, especially with my experience with my other boys? Guest guest
Rice milk, or almond milk are great alternatives. Many grocery stores carry them. Soy milk is probably not the best alternative. Too much soy can block the absorption of other nutrients. Guest guest
you can try pediasure. might not exactly fit into the casein free but it is pretty nutritious. not sure if all the flavors still have soy in them though. Guest guest
Another option is also inquiring about a free sample of this product. Review this site. http://www.neocate.com/aaa_neocate/1128-neocate-home-page.html Products - Pediatric GI/Allergy http://www.shsna.com/pages/products.htm http://www.nutritionandautism.com/ Email Mallory E. West who is a Marketing Nutrition Specialist Autism for further information and see if she would not mind sending you a free sample based upon your child's dietary needs. email: mwest@... I use the Pacific Brands and Hemp Milk which my son benefits from but when replacing the milk within these groups, it is not enough protein or fats. Milk from soy: Usually allergenic, will form dietary opiates. Goat has casein, so a no go for my son. Hope you find something to help your child. Guest guest
I have a 4yr old w/ ASD and now a 2month old. I'm curious...does baby food have gluten or casein. Can I give him regular or organic baby food if I'm trying to be GF/CF with him. What have other moms done in the past with their infants once they transition them to food. He's currently breastfed. Also, the only rice milk product I can find which declares itself free from gluten is the Whole Foods brand. But neither the almond nor the rice milk will have the protein which cows milk supplies. Just my two cents. Cornelia Re: milk Rice milk, or almond milk are great alternatives. Many grocery stores carry them. Soy milk is probably not the best alternative. Guest guest
Organic or homemade baby food is best. Organic baby food is not sprayed with pesticides and other chemical. Home made baby food can be made from organic fruits, veggies and meats. Some baby food, even organic does have gluten and casein in it, you just have to read the ingredients on the jar of each product. I used to make home made baby food, it's not hard, I cooked fruits in fruit juice and water and mashed them or put them in the blender. Veggies I cooked in broth and mashed them with a very small amount of sea salt.
