Guest guest
Whew Mark, I can feel the head of steam you've reved up all the way over here in Cleveland. I'm like you in that I really have to get into the planning to have any hope of succeeding. You really have an important part of the plan done...your vision...short and long term goals...some of the right foods already stocked. I recently purchased the BFL Success Journal. It dedicates four pages to each day. One page has half page of Bill 's inspiration and helpful tips. The second half is someone's success story with their before and after pictures. Then there is a page where you write down 5 things to accomplish in the next 24 hours that will move you towards succeeding in your 12-week challenge, two things that you will do to encourage others, three things you were very successful at (once the 24 hrs is up) and one thing you will work harder on tomorrow. The third page is your six meal plan - planned and actual. The fourth page is your workout plan, laid out much like the downloadable forms from the website. It really works for me. So glad to have you join us Mark. Please post often and stick it out the whole twelve weeks. It is so doable and you are so worth keeping this promise to yourself! Guest guest
Wow, that is truly amazing that you lost 100 lbs in 6 weeks! Is that right or was that months? That would be 16.6 lbs per week. Losing that fast is not a good idea and I don't care how big you are. I'd aim for a goal of no more than 5 lbs per week and I am taking your size into consideration. Your 12-week goals and beyond do sound reasonable to me. If there is anyway we can help, let us know. Good to have you here. I do know that is a BFL group that meets regularly in Chicago. There is also a Yahoo Group for this group if you are interested in finding some locals to inspire you as well. Andy > Hello, > My name is Mark and I am going to suceed! Guest guest
Hi Mark, Welcome to BFL group and I admire your decision to change your lifestyle.I do have some reservations regarding some of your goals, first you speak in terms of weight loss numbers that are questionable at best. Have you consulted your physician? Betalean is a good thermogenic for some people with normal blood pressure and heart healthy(read the warnings).Others get negative side effects sometimes life threatening. As you know yoyo dieting doesnt work in the long run in fact it gets worse as it lowers metabolism.Read Bills Book again and follow it to the tee no drastic calorie deficits or overtraining. Some BFLers do many challenges, this might work for you Good Luck! Guest guest
Thanks , That post was one I copied from another local BFL group, so it's been almost week since I started. A very successful week I may add! I try not to get on the scale until the morning of my free day (tomorrow) but I went ahead and got on the scale this morning after my cardio. So far C1W1D6 I have lost 27 pounds! Being my weight is so high; it comes off very fast at first. I will wait until tomorrow to check my fat%. Even thought it's mostly water weight I am still EXTREAMLY pleased! I did every single set/rep/exercise this week, been eating right and kept a positive attitude. I guess quitting that nasty MtDew habit of mine helped as well! I am also trying to track my efforts/results. I am a database guy by day, so I am setting up a journal of my own, online. You gave me some good ideas in explaining what the BFL journal contains and I plan on using some. As far as my motivation I try to remember bad things that have happened/been said to me in my life as a result of my weight/appearance (to many to mention). That seems to help push me to get through the ruff times. I used to block those things out because they hurt so much. Now I am facing it all and doing something about it for myself. Makes me feel good to know I am. Something else I try to think about is the fact that it takes time to get to a destination. I can pick one of many roads and end up in different places but if I take the right path and FOLLOW IT I will get there. Before I was always in search of instant gratification. I am having trouble getting in 6 meals. My work takes up so much of my time. I have been getting in 5 meals though out the day but that's about the best I can do. Do you think I should make up the 6th meal during each one of the 5? Let me know what you think. Guest guest
Hi Andy, Yes that's 6 weeks and your %100 right it's not a good idea . It screwed with my body chemistry and did a number on me (headaches/depression....). Kind of funny even thought I was going through all that I still felt extremely healthy (strong). All I did was follow the BFL book to the letter. I am back on it and the weight is falling off again but this time I am seeing my doctor during the whole deal. If things get out of control again I will be able to address them. My doctor told me the first few weeks the weight will fall off very quickly but I need to slow it down after that. So he recommended I up my calories for the first 100 pounds and keep working out. As far as the Chicago BFL group I am a member there already. They are a great group! I joined here to get even more support . Thanks for your reply! Mark @-@ C1W1D6 Chicago > > Hello, > > My name is Mark and I am going to suceed! Guest guest
Welcome Mark! Your enthusiasm is contagious. I agree with what several others have written about the amount of weight you set as a goal to lose is quite possibly unsafe and may cause harm to your health. I am very glad to hear that you are under a doctor's supervision for this program, as he should be keeping a close eye on any potential problems. Nobody means to sound discouraging in the least when we suggest choosing a more reasonable number, we just want you to be successful long-term, not just for the next 12 weeks. Remember, too-rapid weight loss tends to lead to rapid weight regain (because most programs that cause super-fast weight loss are too restrictive and a person usually falls off the program). Case in point, your own experience after your 1st BFL attempt, right? Follow the book exactly, come here for support (everyone here is absolutely wonderful) and feel free to ask as many questions as you like. We are all here to help you every step of the way. Jen B. P.S. Does your doctor know you plan on taking Betalean? I wouldn't recommend it until you clear it with your doctor. I know that heavier folks are at higher risk for heart attacks and stroke, even if you don't have an underlying problem. I can't imagine that your doctor would green-light you taking a thermogenic until you are out of the danger-zone weight-wise. Please please clear it with your doc before you start taking it,k? > Hello, > My name is Mark and I am going to suceed! Guest guest
Welcome, Mark. You've come to the right place for great information and support. Wow! I love your goals. They are clear, specific and motivating. Congratulations on making the decision to change. This is my 5th attempt at BFL and I always bailed within the first month. I'm on Day 40 today and I'm not quitting on myself this time. I have a goal of doing 4 back-to-back 12 week challenges in 2003 to drop 90 lbs. I'm taking it at 22 1/2 lbs for each challenge -- you're inspiring me to be a little more aggressive with my goals for my next challenge. Best wishes for your success! I know it seems like a long way to go when you have a lot to lose, but you'll get there. Watch out !! A. / Michigan C1, Day
Guest guest
Hi , You go! Day 40, thats awesome! I bet your feeling better already! My goals are a something I have thought about for a long time! Wanting to do them used to make me sad. Now they are something I am looking foward to. It's all a part of turning dreams into goals. Right? I think I read that some place . It's C1W1D7 here and I made it through a full week (YIPPIE)! FREE DAY!!! Hang in there and I hope to hear from you again! Mark CHICAGO > Welcome, Mark. Guest guest
I don't think Mark needs Betalean. It seems to me that a thermogenic would be something to not consider until the weightloss slows. Good idea though to check with your doctor, but I wouldn't be considering it at this point.
