Guest guest
Jeff: To your doctor " never say never " !! Set your sights as high as you want and feel sorry for him since he obviously sets limits for his. A.
Guest guest
Dont you hate it when people tell you, you will never do something?? It just provides me more energy to get out there and prove them wrong:)) good luck!! leigh fl > my doctor noticed i've been exercising > > i told the doctor > i just had my BF measured & it's 20% > but i heard for a man under 15% is good > > he said > you'll never be an elite athlete > > i wonder > Jeff
Guest guest
Jeff That is awful for your doc to say. If I were you, I would file that under " Uneducated " and move on (and prove him wrong would be good too !!! ) Sue

Guest guest
Actually, I was told yesterday that under 20% is good for a male and under 30% is good for a female. Not sure what he meant by that comment. No, you may never be an elite athlete, but that doesn't mean that you won't be able to lower your body fat. I suspect you will lower your body fat and how low you want it to be depends on how well you stick with BFL nutrition. It does take time and in a year your doctor will notice a big difference again if you stick with BFL. Guest guest
This reminds me of a comment that my doctor made at my last physical. He said he didn't generally do prostate exams until the age of 40 so he wasn't going to do one. He then said if you want me to do it, then I definitely am not going to do it. I thought that was rude, but haven't dumped him for another doctor. Guest guest
define 'elite athlete' and who wants to be one of those anyway? i just want to look like one. .
Guest guest
Thx all for the support re what my doctor said. In fairness, I don't think he meant it to be mean. But what I think the implication is, if I give him the power, is to " settle " for what I got. I think what he's thinking is 'so what, 20% body fat. That's not bad. Don't worry about it. You're exercising, so that's fine. Don't be concerned about 15% and below, cuz you're an average guy, who works behind a desk, and only elite athletes can get to 15% and below.' But when I think about folks behind desks, I think about Sara, and all the folks with her in the M & F that she was in, where they all work behind a desk but are all built like champs. What does he mean by elite athletes? I don't know, maybe someone in the Olympics, or a model on the cover of MM, MD, MH, M & F, ME, EFM, IM, etc. Some of y'all (yiz) (like the veteran lifters & the certified trainers, & the knowledgeable people, & the folks with pics of their results, etc.) on this list are elite athletes 2 me whether you admit it or not ;P I didn't mention BFL to the doc so he doesn't know what could happen. How ripped, cut and buff I could become if I tighten my BFL regimen over the next 8 weeks. He prolly thinks I should be happy I exercise, and he is glad I am. And I bet he thinks don't worry about not having the abs show through, like your typical 40something. (Ugh - I'm still not used to that term in relation to myself.) But the abs are getting close. Yes, abs are a-comin'. I had the lumbar spine x'ray taken today and in the dressing room (where you put on the hospital gown - I looked kinda like a monk in it - that " ça, dit moi " monk song kept playing in my head - y'know which song I'm talking about?) I was flexing in the mirror & pulling the skin tight over my abs & I'm starting to like what I see. OK - I admit it - a little BFL narcissism. No one else here has it, do they?
