I was wondering what each of you have as your favorite 2 or 3 autism resources

(books, dvd, or cd)? Which ones and why? I'm trying to create a resource list

for parents.

Peace be with you!---

1.Watch Me Learn dvds. They are video modeling and helped my son learn

appropriate play skills. He imitated what he saw on tv and eventually it

translated into original speech and ideas.

2. Using Visual and Behavioral Cues in the Home dvd.(got from difflearn.com)

It's a 2-hour workshop where a behavioral specialist shares visual strategies

and techniques(Boardmaker and PECs type visuals). She shows children using

visuals and a home using many in various ways.

3. Linguisystems Autism book series. One being Autism and PDD Safety. They are

social stories with visual support pictures in them. My son responds well to

anything written in books and he loved reading the book as well as being taught

from it.

4. timers that count up and down and beep are very helpful. We time video game

use as well as use timers to indicate transition times.

5. Diet and supplementation are a huge help for my son. I mostly use the

internet and library books for that. gfcfdiet.com and the enzymes and autism

Yahoo group, as well as danasview.com are my main sources.

Please post a copy of the list once it's done. I'm starting a business selling

books, etc. specializing in special needs homeschooling, so your list can help

a lot of people.

Thanks,

Corinne
