Guest guest
>>My god, taste of adult services 2 years early.................. Mx We have been able to get a prescription for melatonin of our GP for the last few years. Recently my son turned 16 and the local CDC are saying they are no longer responsible for him. We have approached our GP who tells us he will not prescribe anything for sleep until he is 18!!! We are not having a major problem - but do have it for times when he struggles to get off to sleep. I am going to phone Patient Advice Liaison Services to express my concern as I have been passed from pilar to post trying to get a prescription. The CDC told me it is political! They also said it is only usually prescribed up to 16 as the child should be in the habit of sleeping by then. Has anyone experienced this ? Guest guest
>>As Jane said its politiocal, so much for hippocratic oath. These doctors are under misconcpetion that Melatonin is for kids, it always used to be consultant only so GP could not RX, GP budgets looked at more closely than hospital, GP has to Rx a MED, Med not appropriate for 16 year old, round it goes again. And Agestop will get shut down if anybody in the right place finds out as its illegal to sell Melatonin in UK, buy it OTC anywhere else in the world but not here, we gotta keep pharma happy Grhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Mx BTW I think it's appalling that you can't get a prescription for your son just because he's turned 16. It beggars belief. Joanne > >> >> >> > >> > > We have been able to get a prescription for melatonin of our GP for> > > the last few years. Guest guest
Hi Jane,What sometimes works for us is Epsom bath salts; about 2 small cup fulls (as long as he doesn't drink the bath water like ours!!). Also, we now only give multivitamins at least a couple of hours or so before sleep time, as this gets them energised ...Hope you get the help you need,SibusisiweSubject: Re:melatoninTo: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Date: Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 3:30 PM We have been able to get a prescription for melatonin of our GP for the last few years. Guest guest
I get mine from USA, would save the NHS too much money if people had this rather than meds??? Totally bizzare but in UK they believe its only for kids for sleep..............sigh Mx I really don't understand why it is illegal to buy melatonin OTC?? REALLY??? how about gettin git froman outside source where it is OTC?? I use it alot, especially when I had my knee replaced and I could not fall asleep, I have given it to my autistic son(as well as my "normal" children) since they were little, like 4 or 5 yrs old! no problems at all! why??
