Bren:

The major application of LDN is in MS, therefore it is reasonable

that most will discuss MS.

IMHO, it is incorrect to ask folks to not post on MS. Nobody has

prevented you from discussing any other application of LDN.

However, if what you say is true.. there are other forums where one

can move the LDN/MS discussion to. I am not sure the moderator would

want that..but since the issue bothers you, perhaps you might confirm

the issue with Dr.Gluck and let us know.

Subject: Re: Too many off topic posts, let's get back to subject

does ANYONE KNOW OF CHATROOMS FOR ALTERNATIVE

DISCUSSIONS ABOUT MS.? I WOULD LIKE SOME POSITIVE, UPBEAT DISCUSSIONS AND

NO WHINERS IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. HA HA. I DON'T WANT TO UPSET ANYONE

ON THIS SITE AND I TEND TO GET OFF TOPIC ABOUT LDN SOMETIMES SOOOO PLEASE

LET ME KNOW AEGIS. THANKS, KATHY

At the top left of the messages page on the LDN group web site there are

a number of links. Database, files, links........and CHAT. I have looked

at some of these links before, and it appears that none of them are

turned on for this group. If the moderator/owner of the group could turn

on the chat option, perhaps we could take some of the discussions off of

the message board.

I do sort of agree with whoever it was that said that since most of the

people using LDN are using it for MS, one has to expect off topic

posts having to do with MS. But I also understand the desire of some to

keep the discussions strictly on the topic of LDN. The daily digests

would certainly be shorter and easier to read if the off topic

discussions were taken somewhere else, but would that really serve

people's needs best? I honestly do not have an answer to that question.

One thing I will say is that most of the off topic discussions probably

benefit more than just one or two people, so taking them off the board

and going to individual emails would possibly be detrimental to others

who could benefit from the discussions. Labelling them as off topic would

certainly help, and we are often bad about doing that. And anyone who

doesn't like getting so many individual emails can change their

preferences to either receiving the daily digest or to checking the posts

online and not getting any emails at all. One way or the other, I do not

know of an easy solution to this problem.

I have seen very few develop new symptoms, never experienced before while on

LDN. Most were misdiagnosed.

I've seen many have pseudo exacerbations(a resurfacing or increase in old

symptoms). Many things can trigger pseudo exacerbations.

LDN cannot repair old damage already done. Why it's so important to start LDN

HI BREN, THE FIRST NIGHT ON SKIP'S 4.5 I HAD RAPID HEARTBEAT FOR A FEW SECONDS LIKE ANXIETY BUT I WASN'T ANXIOUS. I EXPECTED NO REACTION WHAT SO EVER. THEN I COULDN'T SLEEP AND KEPT WAKING UP. ON 3.0 I SLEEP LIKE A BABY. THE NEXT DAY AFTER THE 4.5 I FELT CLINICALLY DEPRESSEDAND HAD THIS MORBID FEELING OF SADNESS LIKE I WAS TOTALLY DEPLETED OF ANY EMOTION. I KNOW IT SOUNDS STRANGE BUT IS HARD TO DESCRIBE. THE NEXT NIGHT THE EXACT THING HAPPENED FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER DAY OF THE SAME. I WENT BACK TO MY 3.0 AFTER THAT ASSUMING IT WAS TOO STRONG FOR ME. I also agree that the off topic information is some of the best

information posted on here. I mean really how much information can

you post about LDN, the dosage and filler issue has been beat in to

the ground. Whats even more sad is two of the die hard LDNers(

& ) can't even agree on which is the correct filler. To me off

topic is way better then the 15 emails I had to read through

about " off topic " . I wish certain people on here wouldn't post so

much, it would be nice to get more of a sampling on peoples opinions

instead of always hearing from the same 4-5 people.

The Chemist Shoppe here in Grand Rapids just filled my first month's 3mg supply with the filler methylcellulose 70mg. What are people's impression/experience about this filler? [i asked the other day for feedback, and no-one answered. Is this because no-one had ever heard of this filler?]Rae

I agree, the off topic info is important to me and keeps me abreast of anything new MS treatments.

Shucks, that's what I like about this group, they're on top of anything new and important that comes up re: MS.

The amount of time wasted discussing filler is absolutely mind

boggling.. for it is not even important (though some will

vociferously disagree). It would appear that LDN is the only

medicine where the type of filler is more important than the drug!.

Americans chew tons of medicine every year.. have you ever heard of

the filler being an issue before ??. I havent. Unless one is

allergic to filler (extremely rare)..it really is a non-issue.

It does appear to make a difference to many people on LDN as I have noted

over the past 7 months. It is important to share this information with

others on LDN, as when they discover problems, they have something to rule

out.

I keep hearing stories from people whose medications that they have

been taking for many years are no longer working for them due to

changes in fillers and formulations. Some of this has been caused by

the mergers and closures of pharmaceutical companies and mfg

facilities. A thyroid drug, Tapizole mfg'd by King (I think) is one

such example.

The fillers in medications can make a big difference to many people.

Perhaps the file section of this forum could be used to post and

store information about fillers as well as other important LDN

information so that it doesn't have to keep getting repeated.

I think it is unfair to say that fillers are not important. To some

people they are.

The filler IS just as important as the LDN when LDN is in capsule form. If the

filler does not agree with a patient LDN is worthless to that person because the

patient then cannot take LDN and if the filler becomes sustained release LDN is

worthless because LDN must release fast with a fast release filler. In most

medications one gets mainly medication and tiny amounts of filler but with LDN

we get mainly filler...a big difference.

Let me try one more time..

" If the filler does not agree with a patient LDN is worthless " , There

is a big IF..these fillers have been used since ages... and the same

fillers are used everyday by thousands of patients.

" if the filler becomes sustained release LDN " .. The filler does not

become sustained release.. its LDN which becomes sustained release

because of excessive compaction of the tablet/capsule. Again this

does not happen very often, especially if the rapid release form has

been asked for.

Now to raise some hackles: Its time folks realized that LDN does NOT

work on ALL patients..and that the claimed 99% remission rate may be

inaccurate. Anybody who has been following this board, knows that LDN

has not worked on many patients. Once you recognize this insight..

you will stop doodling with the fillers as the excuse why LDN is not

working. I must however emphasize that LDN works in most MS

cases..but perhaps not at the claimed 99% rate. I anticipate that

this assertion of mine will be proven in a trial...and you heard it

here first.
