> See, for me, making a shake is such a huge time-saver!

The biggest savings in time is the cooking time and the dish washing

at the end. Also how long does it take to order fast food and eat it?

then add the time to burn off the excess fat and a huge saving created

by the use of MRP'S. I have a small hand blender I got at the gym for

$8.00 that I take with me when I travel, one minute to mix, three

minutes to drink and 1 minute to clean, figure I save about 30 minutes

over cooking or waiting for service in a restaurant, then multiply

that by say three meals a day and you have saved far more time than

your normal workout.

But on the other hand, I don't remember the book saying that BODY FOR

LIFE is a time saver, only that it is a life saver.

I have a MRP for breakfast most mornings and the reason I do it that I'm

always running late and it take 1.5 minutes to blend a shake. Admittedly I

only rinse out the blender and don't really clean it. (That's what I had

kids for).

I've started using a shaker because to me it is even easier. Prep time is

like 30 seconds, if you don't count the shaking, which I can do while

getting in the car. I don't seem to have as many problems with clumping as

some. Not anymore than with a blender.

What do you eat for breakfast that you can make in under a minute? Maybe

cottage cheese, which I don't eat. I guess if I made something before hand.

I've eaten a lot of Turkey Frittata that was made before and is a quick

reheat. But I have to eat it before I leave as I can't drive and eat at the

same time.

Sometimes they save time. We had to do a shake this morning since we

needed to leave earlier due to the weather. If I had made a regular

breakfast of BFL pancakes, it would have taken the time to separate

the eggs, blend the ingredients, and cook. With a shake, I just

dumped in the ice, water, and Myoplex and it was done in a couple

minutes. Also, if necessary, we could have drank the shakes on the

way to work. It would have been difficult to eat pancakes while

driving.

The blender only takes a few minutes to clean as well. I never have

tried a hand blender or a shaker to make a shake. We just had to

replace our blender since it died a couple days ago. I went for a

moderately cheap one this time since the expensive one we purchased

lasted about a year. We only make Myoplex about once per day and not

always that often, but I also use it for pancakes so it really gets a

workout.

Food preparation does take a little time. I don't think BFL saves

time as far as cooking a meal. I think it actually takes more time

if you have to cook something. If you can just dump something

together, then you save time. Cleanup is just a necessary evil I

guess.

Having multiple blenders can be handy, and timesaving. You can pick

up a cheap blender at Wally World (Walmart) for about $15, and it will

usually last about as long as a more expensive type. Myoplex is

pretty hard on blenders, and 12 months is about as long as I would

expect any blender to last. Anyways, getting back to the subject, I

use multiple blenders. I have one home, to make a morning shake before

work, and one at work to make my afternoon shake. Throw em both and

the dishwasher, and viola, no mess! I also recommend having more than

one blender at home. As any guy living by himself, running the

dishwasher everyday can be a waste of water/money, so I used to have 2

blenders. If one was dirty and in the dishwasher, I'd have a spare on

hand. Of course, you can wash your blender immediately after using

it, but I had a spare on hand just in case. My old blender broke

about a year ago, and ive gotten along fine with the blender at home,

and the other at work. Just my $0.02...

One thing we discovered is that our old Oster container from a long

long time ago fits on our new Oster blender. So I would recommending

saving the old blender containers since they might work on another

blender that you purchase some day. Also, the Oster I purchased was

$28.00 and is supposed to last 50% longer than other motors. It

attaches with metal instead of plastic. We will see if it makes any

difference.

I handwash my blender since I use it too often to put it in the

dishwasher.

One quick tip....Once you have your water and ice cubes in the

blender -- TURN IT ON. Then, slowly pour in the powder. This will

greatly reduce the amount of powder that sticks to the side of the

blender. Even easier to clean too. :-)

Thanks to whomever a long time ago recommended a Braun hand blender.

I asked for one as a b'day gift and got one. I made a shake last

nite, it was fun. It rinsed pretty quickly, too. Also thanks Todd

for suggesting two blenders - this kind of serves as the 2nd

blender. I went to the Oster site and I aspire to some of the high

tech blenders they're showing!

When I first got the hand blender I tried blending shakes right in

the glass. Half the shake wound up all over the table and the

walls. Now I blend them in a mixing bowl. I find it much easier &

less time consuming to clean a mixing bowl and a hand mixer

attachment than a blender. Only drawback - the instructions say you

can't crush ice with it, as you can in the blender.

It's funny, I always used to HAVE to blend my myoplex shakes with

ice in a blender. Now, I don't care, LOL. I have these really

nifty shakers from Tupperware with dome-shaped lids. I pour

everything in and shake it and go:)
