Hi MargaretWe met Dr Cross at GOSH.. she did a very detailed study into Ketogenic diet a few years ago and actually practices part of the time from a hospital in Bavaria... close to my in-laws.

the decision tree is useful, but only in so far as it links to the list of things which they believe occur... so Tatijana's experience of Hypoxia and 's research into changes to heart rates do not appear to be covered at all.

Because every child has such a different profile with epilepsy.. just as in autism.. it is not easy to find common threads which address the global needs of epileptics... 's research has for us been the only science which not only explains Tatijana's seizure history, it also explains the reasons for the very different profiles of individual epileptic children too.

Best WishesTracey

I phoned Advance early this morning and left a message to ask to phone me;

I hope she manages to.

The NICE guidance and criteria (there are many docs on the website) are useful

in that they mention extra care in diagnosis with children, with people with LD,

that children should be seen in a child friendly environment, when overnight

EEGs should be done, also recommendations for MRI.

Hi Margaret only got back from South Africa overnight I believe!! and I know she has a very full clinic today because we were planning to go down today and decided to delay a week.

When she is so busy, it is often easier to contact her via the centres e mail address.. as she is then able to reply when she has a gap in her very busy days... She is remarkable.. and has sometimes contacted my late in the evening!!

I agree with you that it is important to ensure that a child is relaxed and in an environment more likely to result in more normalised behaviours.. so to this extent the decision chart.. gives clear guidance... I dare you to forward it on to Dr Verity at Addenbrookes.. he would not know the right side of diplomacy and patient care if it bit him on the bum!!! So pleased we are out of child service and paed care so we do not have to deal with him!
