Import tax here is 20%, sometimes there is import duty too depending on carrier the value of which makes no sense to me after 5 years of importing but they usually do let it in and then the carriers charge for collecting the VAT and duty, anywhere from £8.50 to £11.00. IF the parcel hits customs it can 3 weeks for it to come out again.....................sigh. Bane of my life

Does anybody know if its easy to make orders from the US to the UK without to much trouble , paperwork, tax to be paid etc on arrival to the UK?When ever i order from Amy Yasko, the supps get stopped in customs here.... i have to pay 40 euros for them to be cleared and some extra charges ... its the hassle to go and pick up a sample to get the OK from the state hospital and then back to show stamped documents etc....I thought if the procedure to get them to the UK to my son may be not so much red tape.......please send me your feedback.love chriso------------------------------------DISCLAIMERNo information contained in this post is to be construed as medical advice. Hi ChrisoStuff I import is hit with VAT and then a handling charge.. It infuriates me that the VATABLE amount includes the airfreight charges.. I think there is an £11 charge for handling and then VAT..

Do you know any USAF ( american airforce families) near you?  If you can get them to order stuff and have it delivered onto a military base then there are NO charges or taxes and fewer customs hold ups....

I have such a person, a pre paid priority medium or large box marked as gift vitamins $25 usually gets through OK

question -- what if you had someone in the US purchase them and send them to you in a box like you would recieve in the regular mail?? that would get stopped as well?? how do they know what is in the box?? I quess I dont know enough about over seas shippments?? It cant be that difficult!!?? Kara
