Guest guest
After having two tests which showed my PTH high, Vitamin D low, urine calcium low, serum calicum, low end of normal and LOTS of other symptoms which go with parathryoid issues, I saw a surgeon at the suggestion of three of my doctors. This is the only Endrocine surgeon in the Greenville SC and he is wonderful Last week he requested another set of labs for aldosterone and renin. First thing he mentioned was that my aldosterone, granted a bit high and my renin were within normal limits. My kidney function was holding at a bit over 50 percent which is a great improvement from last week this time when it was slightly less than 25 percent and my nephrologist was considering sending me to dialysis. He said that I did NOT have primary aldosterism and perhaps we consider cutting back on the spiro unless it really is necessary to keep my blood pressure under control. Now to the parathryoid. I have secondary parathryoid issues which is to be kept an eye on since I have hasimoto's thryoid. He also recommended that instead of taking the 50K units of Vitamin D and the vitamin D cream each week, to change me over to Vitamin D3 with high doses initially to see if it helps my issues. I am to be retested at the end of the month to see if there are any changes a let him know if this change makes my problems/issues better, worse or no change.
