Public

Hearing on Budget Reduction Options

Gov. Rick , Lt. Gov. Dewhurst and House

Speaker Joe Straus have asked state agencies to submit plans to reduce

their general revenue (state fund) budgets by five percent for the

current biennium which ends August 31, 2011. These plans are to be

developed and submitted to leadership by Feb. 15th. For more

information on this request and the potential impact to services for

people with disabilities, visit http://www.txddc.state.tx.us/resources/publications/fyi/fyijan10/fyistate01-10.asp#state.

The Health and human services agencies will host a public hearing Thursday,

Feb. 11, to receive comments on budget reduction options. The

hearing will include presentations on each agency’s plans and an

opportunity for public comment. The meeting will begin at 11

a.m. in the Brown-Heatly Building, 4900 N. Lamar, Austin. For more

information about the public hearing, visit: www.hhsc.state.tx.us.
