Guest guest
, No, I don't think your Rheumatologist will laugh at you for wanting a sticker... age has no meaning for this disease! Diane  42 Hi All, Was wondering if any of you ever have problems with fever blisters on your mouth. Denavir usually takes care of them, but I wonder why they keep coming back. Just curious? Also, do any of you have a handicapped parking sticker/permit. I'm thinking of asking my Rheumatologist to sign the paper work so I can get one. The main reason is school. I usually have to walk anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the parking lot and there are three sets of steps. Gets kinda hard with a 50 pound bookbag (it rolls but doesn't help on the stairs). There are about 20 handicapped parking spaces near the school that are almost never used. Do you think my Rheumatologist would laugh at me wanting a permit when I am only 35 years old. He is generally very caring and always wants to know if I need anything. Thanks in NC ________________________________________________________________________ More new features than ever. Guest guest
, It is entirely appropriate for you to get a handicapped sticker. I struggled with it also, but my RD said absolutely. You have to consider your energy levels and how too much physicality can put you in a flare. It has made a world of difference for me. I can go to the store...sometimes even WalMart without worrying too much if I'll make it through my shopping list. So yes....get a sticker and don't feel bad about it! As for the fever blisters...I'm lucky there and don't get them (knock wood). in TX Fever Blisters anyone??? Hi All, Was wondering if any of you ever have problems with fever blisters on your mouth. Guest guest
Hi I am fighting a fever blister right now. They keep on coming back, just like you said. I was thinking that it is the herpes simplex virus and it is just returning because I am immuno suppressed. I'm not a dr. This is just what occurred to me. I also have problems with nail fungus that my rheumy says I just have to live with because the treatments are hard on my liver and I alread have enough meds taxing that organ. Besides, he argues, it will just come right back as soon as I stop taking the meds because my immune system won't fight it. I have no good nails left on my feet and nine good ones on my hand. Wouldn't ya know, the one finger to completely lose the nail is the one with my wedding rings on it?? People say " Oh look at your beautiful rings....Ewwwwww! " Anyway, you asked about parking permits. I was much younger than you when I got mine. My doc. started getting them for me when I was 28, but I was also having a lot of orthopaedic surgeries. This is the first year that I didn't have to take the paperwork in to renew it because my home state of Missouri saw that I kept getting them renewed and so they just sent me a new one in the mail. YEAH! No DMV! My stills onset came two years after completing college and I remember thinking back to those long campus walks and that heavy bookbag and thinking, " Boy, am I lucky that I got thru college before this hit me " . So, I completely sympathize with you and I bet any dr. would too. Good Luck. Guest guest
As for myself, I get reoccurring blisters in my mouth and nose. I have a blister right now half inside and half outside the top portion of my left nostril. > Hi All, > Was wondering if any of you ever have problems with fever blisters on > your mouth. Guest guest
Hi , DO you take MTX or Arava? Those can cause fever blisters. If not, you could just have active herpes in you and need to take other supplements to help squelch them. I can't think of what it is people take right now, but i know it's zinc or something like that. Regading the handicapped sticker, if you need it, ask. There is no reason that your age should prevent you from getting one. it's about ability, not age. So I say go for it! Houston
Guest guest
Hi , In regards to the Fever Blisters I think others have responded that they have had them. I haven't but if you are on MTX and have them, it can cause them (especially if you aren't on folic acid). In regards to the parking permit, go for it. I have one and it makes my life much easier. I'm sure he won't laugh. Mine even said he was surprised at how long I waited to ask for it. Just explain what you need it for, you ll be surprised. Life is hard enough when you are fighting stills, I don't use mine all the time, but it helps out when I am really not feeling well. Take care, -- Fever Blisters anyone??? Guest guest
My youngest son and I have had fever blisters for years, but since I've had Stills, I have them more frequently, and as someone reported, even in my nose. We have used L-Lysine (an amino acid I believe) tablets (found in the vitamin section) for years, and it does shorten the life of them especially for my son. Sometimes, mine are more stubborn, just like other symptoms with Stills. Blessings to all, IL
