Where did you see this?

I just wanted to let everyone know this group releases our private

information on the internet. There is even a link with my email

address, along with my first and last name and my city and state. All

this information was required for me to become a member, but it has

been release to the public. I have tried to contact the moderators but

have never received any reply. My personal information is all there

for every spammer to see. My email is now trashed. This has never

happened in any other yahoo group I have been in. I feel violated.

If you are referring to the Onibasu search site, then this has already been

pointed out and the moderator is working towards securing our information.

If it is from another place, are you sure you contacted the correct person?

Try e-mailing shawn@... with where you found this info.

Are you absolutely sure it came from this group? Have you purchased anything on the internet...have you made inquiries into anything..like auto or health insurance...some of these companies will sell your information.

Last summer we started getting inundated with phone calls and postal mailings from dealerships saying that they found out we're looking for an automobile, and they were setting up appointments and everything. We were getting sick of it because we were NOT looking for an automobile. We finally spoke to the manager of a dealership to tell him to take our name off whatever list he got it from. He asked if we had been looking into car insurance lately. We had been price shopping on the internet. He said these car insurance companies are notorious for selling personal information. In order to get a price quote from some of them, you had to put in you address, phone number, etc...

So if you use the internet for anything....your name is our there and could be sold/distributed.

Attention Group Yahoo is Tracking Group Members. If you

belong to ANY Yahoo Groups - be aware that Yahoo is now using

" WebBeacons " to track every Yahoo Group user. It's similar to

cookies, butallows Yahoo to record every website and every group you visit,

even whenyou're not connected to Yahoo. Look at their updated privacy statement

at http://info.yahoo.com/privacy/us/yahoo/details.htmlhttp://info.yahoo.com/privacy/us/yahoo/details.html

(You may have to cut and paste the address into your browser.) About half-way

down the page, in the section on *cookies*, you will see a link that says *WEB

BEACONS*.Click on the phrase " Web Beacons. " On the page that opens,

on the left find a box entitled " Opt-Out. " In that section find

" opt-out of interest-matched advertising " link that will let you

" opt-out " of their snooping. Click it and then click the opt-out

button on the next page.*Note that Yahoo's invasion of your privacy - and your

ability to opt-out of it - is not user-specific. It is MACHINE specific. That

means you will have to opt-out on every computer (and browser) you use.*Please

forward this to your other groups. You might complain, too, but I'm not sure if

anyone is listening. I remember when they signed all users up to get spam and

we had to opt out of that a few years ago. Related article:http://antivirus.about.com/od/spywareandadware/a/yahoobugs.htmPlease

pass this information to all of your groups...

They have been tracking for years actually. The free search bar that they offer has been scanning cookies as long as they have offered it. the way i undrestand it is you must do this on each and every computer

that you use. if your using at home you should only have to opt out on

those computers. however if you use the library you will have to do it

at every one that you use.
