I don't know but you could ask the Nordoff-Robbins Centre in London for advice -http://www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk/musicTherapy/ourMusicTherapyServices/londonCenter.htmlKen Subject: (OT) funding for music education? To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Date: Wednesday, 16 March, 2011, 12:01

Does anyone know whether there's a charity which might help pay for piano lessons for a child with autism and learning disability? It looks as though the local authority can't help.

Dear Ken.

I just tried them - unfortunately they couldn't help.

Thanks,

Margaret

Dear MargaretI am sure that when we went for a visit to Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge recently they have a music therapy training programme on campus... perhaps you could start there and see if they are looking for disabled children to use within their training programme... likely to end up being a freebie  if they are willing.

hi margaret, i got funding for music therapy through jessie's fund you have to

be on a low income and offer to help with some of it I applied for this as we

did music therapy at nordoff robbins for 18months they taught my son to play the

piano as well as other things indirectly through music therapy, and his social

skills came out really well. Also nordoff robbins do a lower price for low

income families but you need to speak to them about this and fill in a

form..best Isobel

Thanks, I'll contact Jessie's fund. H already has music therapy at school - I am

looking for a piano teacher. He is in Sussex during the week and only home at

weekends during term form now on. I have also contacted the senior person from

the music therapy dept at Anglia Ruskin, Tracey - she used to see Henry when he

was two.
