Guest guest
I find it interesting that dairy prices are what they were in the seventies and as I live in a lobstering community, an island with no bridge or car ferry to the mainland, that our guys here are getting the same price for lobsters as they were in the seventies. It sure doesn't pay to run a boat with those prices, at least in the winter. They at least have the option of not hauling. It's a lot harder to tell a cow to sit on things for a season.soos in maineSubject: NEW ENGLAND DAIRY STORYTo: RawDairy Date: Sunday, January 24, 2010, 7:19 AM http://www.enterpri senews.com/ business/ x190611439/ Milking-an- opportunity- Local-farmers- plan-could- be-a-blueprint- to-help-save- New-Englands- struggling- dairies "The price of milk is set by the USDA" Last year farmers were paid 85 cents a gallon for milk while production cost average $1.80 a gallon. Guest guest
think again ... is this monumental failure of the food supply just an un-intended consequence of a generation of Soviet central planning .... in which prices are dictated by bureaucrats, 1000 miles away ? Is it just a co-incidence that the industrial heart of the country has gone tits-up at the same time? Is it just another mere co-incidence that the Republic is in debt bondage to those who have sworn to destroy us = by any and all means = Red China? No, we are ruled by those who hate us. Our nation was "sold for nothing" precisely as the God of Israel decreed, thousands of years ago. before you can set about remedying the problems, you have to identify the reason for the failure. The book of Obadiah would be a good start ================================>> http://www.enterprisenews.com/business/x190611439/Milking-an-opportunity-Local-farmers-plan-could-be-a-blueprint-to-help-save-New-Englands-struggling-dairies> > "The price of milk is set by the USDA"> Last year farmers were paid 85 cents a gallon for milk while production cost average $1.80 a gallon. Guest guest
Most of us know how the system works. Also in that formula for pricing needs to be included the additional profits that these boards make to support staff and other expenses. Then we look at the national lobbying by dairy processors and the pressure they can exert. How many more of our friends, neighbors, brothers and sisters have to be driven to such despair as a dairy brother in NY before we acknowledge that the current system doesn't work for the benefit of the producer? While dairies and food producers go bankrupt the other end of the equation make record profits make record profits.
