Guest guest
Hi , I am looking at getting a milking machine this year as well. I have asked around and done a little research. Hoegger sells a machine but its pretty pricey. I have Nigis and Nubians so I needed a machine that has hoses that then connect to a big bucket. Hoegger had a Deluxe milking system that does this but can only milk one goat at a time. They have the dual system but this has small buckets that sit under each goat with the inflations attached directly to the bucket. This system can milk up to four goats. Pros: no tube lines to clean and compact machine for shows and such, Cons: too tall to sit under Nigis and harder with squirmy goats that can knock it over, you also have to dumb each small bucket into the large bucket while milking. I mention Hoegger because several people have this machine. I am getting the milking machine from the Parts Dept (www.partsdeptonline.com). It is their Standard Mobile Milker. I have a friend with this machine and she absolutely loves it. The 3/4 HP can milk up to 4 goats and the 1.5 HP up to 8. It is a little larger than the Hoegger machine, but it a little more reasonable cost wise. This machine has the hoses that you have to clean but work well for any size goat. All hoses go to one big bucket so you don't have to pour milk from smaller buckets. They are very helpful on the phone with any questions you have. For both machines you can get smaller or regular inflations for your size of goats. I hope this was helpful. > > Hi All i am wondering if anyone can recommend a good pulsator milk machine for goats, specifically we have nigerians and i will be buying a machine as we plan to expand at some point and i am not wanting to continue to hand milk. > > >
Guest guest
Thank you that was. Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between a pulsator and a surge pulsator? > > Hi , I am looking at getting a milking machine this year as well. Guest guest
I bought 2 milking setups from this guy for my Jerseys. When I bought, the setup included new stainless buckets, new pulsators and inflations, and a rebuilt vacuum pump. I bought 2 (one as a backup), and saved a lot of money. They've worked well. Mike will help answer your questions, and was good to deal with IMO. http://www.perrysmilkers.com/ > > Hi All i am wondering if anyone can recommend a good pulsator milk machine for goats, specifically we have nigerians and i will be buying a machine as we plan to expand at some point and i am not wanting to continue to hand milk. > > >
Guest guest
Hi, From what I know Surge is a type of milking set up and they have their own pulsator because of the configuration of the top of the bucket. It is a squat type of bucket as apposed to a tall upright type of bucket. Surge buckets are very easy to find and cheap. The upright bucket is more expensive and harder to find. I don’t like the surge because they are hard to pour from. Other wise they are the same. I have built about 6 milking systems so far from eBay. I would suggest that you learn as much as you can about milking machines. That way you will know what you really want. You can then go to eBay and get the basic stuff like a bucket and lid and shells. I go to Parts Dept. for milk hose and inflations and air hose. I use a bucket system as apposed to a pipe line system. Much more convenient and portable. If you are going to milk a lot of animals then pipe line might be a consideration. Hope this helps and if you like I can email pictures of what I have to you. Just let me know. Chris Thank you that was. Guest guest
Hi So Surge is just a brand then. Surge is not a mechanical operation on the machine. I have no idea about milk machines other than what i have seen on Hoeggers site. What is bucket systems vs. pipeline? I am so ignorant. I have been planning on hand milking i did not think i would be rushing to buy a machine so i have no idea period about this. If you can direct me to a dummies articles that would explain everything that would be good. I am not mechanically inclined and i worry i lack the knowledge to just order a piece of this or that and make it work. What i think i have seen so far on ebay is parts of machines and i would still need something to make the machine work...... or not, it is unclear since i do not have much knowledge. We can afford to buy a hoeggers so i was going to get it. Some have suggested they do not like the belly pails but it seems like a good idea to me to not have the pulsator on the top so that you can wash the lid. Why would it not be? I can see the fighting and knocking off the suction things since it would be such a short distance between the 2. That was something i had not considered. At this point i only have 2 nigerians in milk. But i can't for the life of me get their milk. They get so full in the morning there is no grasping at all. The babies are a 3 weeks or so old now and my local friends are saying i need to start separating now or i will lose the milk production/capacity. I have been separating but it is pointless cause i can't get the milk. My nubian was in milk last yr and she was so easy to milk. She gives a gallon a day easy and i am keeping this in mind for later milk machine wise. We will be milking more than just the 2 eventually. But for now i do not want to wind up with a big 30lb pail for 2 qrts. Hoeggers seemed reasonable, smaller, has everything put together since i do not have time to school myself on what to put together..... Unless their advice is wrong and it does not matter. But they say the milk is going to go down and the udder with the build up over night will not expand etc.... that if i wait any longer i will not have much milk anyway. I would like to see pics as well of what you have put together. > > Hi, > From what I know Surge is a type of milking set up and they have their own pulsator because of the configuration of the top of the bucket. > It is a squat type of bucket as apposed to a tall upright type of bucket.
