The

Task Force for Children with Special Needs and its subcommittees are currently

soliciting ideas from parents, consumers, subject matter experts, services

providers and other interested parties concerning specific issues for

subcommittee exploration.

The

Task Force for Children with Special Needs was created in 2009 to improve the

coordination, availability and quality of services for children and young

people with developmental or intellectual disabilities, serious mental illness

and/or chronic illness. It is comprised of leaders from key child serving

state agencies, legislators, and public members.

By

September 1, 2011, the Task Force must create a five year statewide strategic

plan with goals and objectives to improve services for its target

population. To help inform plan, the Task Force includes eight

subcommittees, each responsible for studying key issues and making related

recommendations. The subcommittees include: health, mental health,

education, transitioning youth, juvenile justice, long-term care, early

childhood intervention, and crisis prevention.

If

you have an issue, idea, concern or recommendation regarding the current

service delivery system that you would like the Task Force to consider, please

complete and submit the attached form by February 18, 2010. Further

explanation and contact information is provided on the attachment.
