Guest guest
This email is going far and wide because I really REALLY need any and all advice I can get at this point. , my 4 yr old, HFA, is refusing to use the potty. It isn't regression as we have never gotten him to potty train period. We've been at this since he was 18 mos old. (He was successful a few times at that age so it wasn't too early.) He's successfully pee'd on the potty at school several times at this point and holding it all other times. We are getting in-home training help from the school and they're stumped too. We've tried potty parties.. Potty training without tears.. Potty training in a Day.. Wayman Center's potty training method.. First-Then strategies.. Tripping Schedules.. Presents for when he's successful.. Sticker charts for completing the process even if he didn't pee.. Food reinforcers.. Turning the water on. Leaving him for a short time.. leaving him on the potty for a long time.. Leaving the room so he's not pressured.. Staying in the room so he is pressured.. Staying in so he's relaxed.. Giving him things to do while he's on the potty... At this point, we do not know what else to do. Nothing has worked. He's aware that he's about to go because he's spontaneously went without telling anyone once so he could get a corndog! He's only eliminating 4 times a day. Once around 9-10.. Again at 2-3.. Again from 5-8.. then bedwetting. I don't care about the bedwetting as we're doing goodnights and at this point I just want him to go potty. So please, someone, tell me something I haven't tried.. Something that will make him go when he's on the potty. And thanks for any suggestions that do come our way. Feel free to email me privately if you would like.
