Guest guest
We've had 3 visits with Dr. Rao now, and during the last one, one of his nurses showed my husband how to give our 26 month old methyl? B12 shots. He called in a prescription for to be given twice a week. Since I'm having no luck getting any calls back from the nurses there (I wasn't at the last visit, and Mike didn't come back well enough informed), I'm wondering if any of the moms here can chime in about their experiences with MB12 shots. Is there an actual test to show the deficiency that would warrant the injections? If they're warranted, how long do the kids have to take them? Is it life long? After just the one injection, 's poop was black, mushy, and sandy (if that makes sense). Is that forever? Are there downsides to the injections, and if so, are they temporary? To be perfectly honest, I'm worried about giving him anything that causes a major change in his stools right now, because after 6 months of seeing nothing but mushy poop from my son (if I was lucky, he'd have one solid bowel movement every 2 weeks), something happened, and out of nowhere, his poop issues have resolved themselves. We're going on two straight weeks with a solid bowel movement every single day. We've done no dietary changes, no supplements (he's never taken supplements), nothing, and poof.....after all this time, whatever was causing his stools to be soft has resolved itself. I'd be so bummed to do anything that would disrupt that, because I felt so bad about the fact that he quite obviously had stomach issues. Anyway, I'm open to all recommendations with this. Thanks so much!!
Guest guest
Didn't you just say in the last post you were removing gluten? That would help the bowel issue I think. We do the b-12 shots with the folic acid. The regular ones made my son very hyper. These are better but still a little hyper we give them at night with a small dose of clonidine and it does the trick. Yes there is a test to see if you are low in B-12. Once you get the hang of these it's a breeze. I don't remember poop issues with this imparticular but we have been doing this awhile. Gluten makes my son wig out, hyper, anxious, bowel issues etc...it seems to take about 24 hours from the infraction to the time it really hits. And YEAST! Yipes get rid of the sugar my son nearly ate his clothes and his bottom lip when he was yeasty. NONONONO sugar. This includes complex carbs my son gets almost instantly hyper if he eats potato chips or French fries. Good luck! Trina M-B12 shots?
