Guest guest
D. ~~ I have a lot of empathy for those who have chronic anxiety -- it can really interrupt daily life. One of the things that I have learned from friends who have the disorder is for them to practice deep breathing when they feel anxious. Also, to do reality checks with someone they are close to and find the reality of what is going on, rather than their own thoughts or feelings. Self-care is important and pampering at times of anxiety is good too -- hot bath, a walk, talking with a friend, journaling. You may find that you would benefit from counseling to help you work through some of the roots of the anxiety as well. I hope this is helpful and will be of benefit to you. It is likely that it will be a series of small things that will add up to big results. I have anxiety attacks when I have to be around people even ones I know well like friends and family. I am on 3 medications to help deal with it and am going to the Dr tomorrow but i would like advise if anyone has it. Thank you Be a better sports nut! Let your teams follow you with Yahoo Mobile. Guest guest
Hi . I realize this response is a little slow in getting to you, but that is about to change right now. You asked, so I'll answer! I have experienced the same type of anxiety all of my life..Less as a child, but gradually becoming the decision maker on allmost everything I do. Meetings at work.. OMG!! This was back in the day of 2=way radios in the car. They (office) would announce a mwwting, all must attend, that afternoon. I'm already freakin!!! I used some anti-anxiety drug you administer sub lingualy..(why can't they just say " under the tongue " )? and if it didn't actually work, I thought it must be helping. so it was a little better. Big meeting// more pills. What has helped the most for me, is that I entertained for for a long while, and used to really start freakin' on Thursday for a gig on Friday!! After a big Texas Sweet Tea sized glass, I would leave the house...sometimes actuallyt shaking, from anxiety. As you know, I'm sure..it is real easy for that anxiety to turn into wide eyed fear..ridiculus unwarranted FEAR!!! Finally after a couple of months, I got used to the routine, and realized...Del, you make far too much of this!! Keep it together! Think about it! You are going to play in a smokey-smelly nieghbor hood bar, sometimes packed and sometimes not, playin' your music, which they hired you for extensions month after month... and sing to everyone and to no=one, on a Friday night in Houston,Tx., in a bar that if you wore flip/flops they would come off, because the carpet was so...Sticky. Will write more later! Deliman --- Doyle wrote: > I know we talked about this on Thursday during chat but I was > wondering if anyone had ideas about how to deal with anxiety? Guest guest
Deliman Thank you for getting back to me right away. I tried to convince myself that I would be ok But that does not help. I was fine got ready ahowered did hair and make up then when I got into me car I started having trouble breathing, scared t drive away from my house, and called my husband to calm me down he helped then when I got to school. I could not even get out of the car. I have never been so scared as I have been latley. Scared of what I am not sure. I dont want to be around people. This is so hard for me to deal with. The more I try the more sick I feel later and its not good for my health. I am so tired after feeling this way. Guest guest
I would try to talk to myself rationally about the situation. Like when I was on tx & driving & thought I was lost, I would tell myself that I probably knew where I was when I turned on that road so if I just kept going, I’d figure out where I was in a minute. Sure enough, it worked every time and only one time had I actually made a wrong turn which was easily corrected when I realized where I was. Re: Anxiety Hi . Guest guest
If you’ve tried that & you’re already on meds, maybe counseling is the next step.
