Hello and Jeb,

I have sent Kombucha cultures to many different places, as far afield as

Turkey, Russia, the US and Canada, and Europe, including Great Britain

and Eire.

The trick is to declare your Kombucha starter as

a) a 'gift' and

B) a 'vinegar culture for culinary purposes'.

Except for paranoid Australia, I never experienced any fluff & bother! ;-)

Second, I have sent the culture for years now in a bottle (Lucozade

bottle, or any bottle that has had a fizzy drink in it originally, preferably

with a wider aperture than ordinary.

Then I seal the top with sticky tape to prevent it working loose in transit.

If the scoby to be sent is thin, I roll it up into a sausage and post it

into the bottle and top it with at least a cup of acidic Kombucha from my

scoby hotel.

If the scoby is too fat/big, I cut it into a continuous strip and let this

slip into the bottle like a long snake - a very good method of slim-sizing

scoby, with no deleterious effect on the Kombucha culture itself!

After scoby plus liquid assembled in bottle, I pop bottle into a clearly

addresses jiffy bag and send it off at the post office.

No mess, no spillage and important acidic KT liquid provided as well.

Hope this works for you too!

Margret:-)UK
