Guest guest
I don't agree with some of this. They are using commercial dairy as a focus which is pushing high vacuum levels and very quick pulsation. This is done in the name of efficiency in that more cows can be milked per hour. Drop the vacuum slightly and slow the pulsation rate on any system and you do not get the teat crawl, stressing on the udder, nor do you get red distended teats. It is all in the set-up and regulating of your equipment. That and quit using products that dry the skin on the teats. They also note the grain factor which all goes back to the diet issue we are all aware of as cow share people. Reality is, you can end up with teats like those shown from aggressive hand milking. This reads like more of a marketing move than a well reasoned and impartial study.Kurtis If you milk your cows with a machine, I urge you to read the lead article on Hartke's website, today. Guest guest
I had the honor of meeting the Gehm's at Farm show last year and try out their system on my hands (my teats not being cow/goat like and all vs the "Standard" systems.. It was a huge difference. The system itself is not as pricey as one might expect, and as I design my mini-milk parlor, this system is at the top of my purchase list. It's probably the least expensive bit of insurance I can get! Guest guest
There have been threads on this on the organic dairy list that is now at the NODPA (Northeast Organic Dairy Producers Ass.) list serve (not the yahoo one). Nobody over there was particulary impressed by this technology if I remember correctly. I dont have experience with it myself but the folks that naysayed this are folks that I trust who would know. If you are concidering this I would recommend that you go over there and ask some questions from organic producers who have used it and or researched it. Guest guest
I have talked with several farmers who have switched to this system, everyone bar none had nothing but good to say about it. It significantly lowered mastitis infections. especially in new cases. lowered scc and bacteria counts. they where all very pleased with the system and highly recommended the system.
