Guest guest
Once you have the cream it is as easy as cow butter.. but it is white. Getting the cream is more of an effort because the smaller fat particles do not come out of the milk as readily as the fat in cow milk. No, I have never made cheese.........in fact, I don't own any goats or cows at this time. I have had colored sheep that I used for wool for my spinning & weaving which I had to sell back in early 1990's and I also had a couple of Nubian goats for pets and a couple of angora sheep to grow their wool. Now, my angora's did have a little one that didn't live very long. I also had a ram. All that I had to give up after a divorce. I was kind of a learner at that time. I had went to a Sheepfest in Bethel, MO and fell in love with the spinning and weaving, came home bought some sheep, a couple of goats and kind of blindly walked my way through it. I am sure there was so much I didn't know, but I did make some wool and did a bit of spinning and weaving, which I really loved. I never got into the milking. But, like I said, had to let go of that after my divorce. I sold all that I had.............now I wish I at least had my colored sheep back! The reason I joined this site was to learn more about the benefits of raw goats milk and much enjoyed the butter making as a child from cow's milk we bought from a neighbor. My mother did dable a bit in cheese making what little I remember from my childhood years, my father wasn't a farmer, he was an shoemaker by trade, he worked in a shoe factory and repaired shoes on the side. They both did a lot of gardening and home canning & freezing. So, I was wondering how one makes butter from the raw goat's milk as I do have that available to me here in MO, but I have to buy it under the label of 'only for animals'. Thanks for the info on the cheese making and I will check it out............how about the goat's butter??? is it as easy making as cow's butter? Thanks, nna (unknown) hello, I'm Chuck Raes I have a small mixed breed organic dairy in Lyons,N.Y. and enjoy my raw milk.
