He was fired for some illegal infraction he committed and the new Super is a wonderful man. We have fought the entire time Tristan has been in school for adequate services. Though he has had his OWN TA for the past several years, (before they wouldn't designate or hire one just for him) and the teacher ratio was acceptable (by their standards) he wasn't able to get the one on one stated in his IEP. I posted before how after going to the principal at the first of the school year and pointing this out to her, she and the SE director went to the Super and he granted their request! Maybe he came up with it himself, but they did hire another SE teacher. Now Tristan is in a classroom with only 2 other students, one of whom has autism. The adult ratio to students is 1 to 1 and sometimes 2 to 1! Tristan IS progressing now! We plan to give them an extra special Christmas gift this year __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Yes....That would be the elementary school that I tell people to run in the opposite direction from. Very uncooperative principal. Not special ed friendly in the least. When I asked to schedule six week team meetings for my client the principal refused. Things got so bad in dealing with them that the parents eventually pulled their son out and are home schooling him. Which is a shame because this is a very high functioning child who should have had no problem being successful in a school setting. Wouldn't put my own ASD son at that school if they gave me a free house in their zoned area! For what its worth I complained quite a bit to the powers that be at KISD Headquarters about their administration. So if you have complained you certainly weren't the only one to do so. Guest guest
I am dealing with similar issues. Not to mention, that I too have thought about pulling him out to home school. Guest guest
There are plenty of good elementary schools nearby....I would pursue a transfer or at least look into it. My son does not attend , however it's the school we're zoned for. I was talking to a friend today whose son attends Kilpatrick (he is neural typical and not special ed) she said the principal there is great. He is a happy, cheerful, full of energy type of person and is good for the school. She is worried her son will be rezoned to next year--his last year in elementary school. There was a meeting the other night at to discuss rezoning issues because a new elementary school in Seven Meadows will be opening, for now it's being called Elementary School #31. I have heard the principal at is a strict disciplinarian type. The rumor is my neighborhood will be rezoned to this new school. Does anybody know where it will be built? I didn't get to attend the meeting. CReece ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
In my humble opinion ANY school is better than . Cara Fleming is the principal at Kilpatrick and she is incredible. She was the principal for three years when my son first started elementary and has by far been superior to any principal I have ever dealt with before or since. Kilpatrick is the school that everyone wants to transfer to because it is such a good atmosphere for the teachers and students. If you could possibly get a transfer there it would be excellent!
