A1 and A2 are a protein found in milk. A2 corporation has done studies that has linked A1 protein to Autism, type 2 diebities, and heart disease. They have been controlling all the testing in New Zealand and Aus. The milk sells for a premium. A few years back they had a test herd here in the states to test the market. Texas A & M was testing for the A2 protein. But after the the pilot program the herd was depopulated and licensing to A & M revoked. There biggest problem is how there going to control the sales of milk and control who has tested cattle has been there biggest hurdle here in the states, they want to monopolize the market and that's frowned on here in the states. About 90% of Guernseys carry the A2-A2 gene 50% jerseys carry the A2 gene and only 25% of Holsteins carry the A2A2 combo, cows can carry both A2 or a combo A2A1 or A1A1 we have just a

few cows that we are certain carry A2A2 we have also been breeding with New Zealand bulls that have been tested for both A2A2 genes. Problem with the whole thing is if it is ever excepted that A1 milk causes all these problems it would ruin the current dairy situation here in the US, there is such a small gene pool that is A2A2 in the predominant Holsteins of the USASubject: Re: Re: A1-A2 TestingTo: RawDairy Date: Friday, January 22, 2010, 12:16 AM

It doesn't matter any benefit A2 milk would have over A1 is killed by NZs Mandatory Pasteurization of Milk so why bother, theyre only fooling themselves! > To: RawDairy > Date: Fri, 22 Jan 2010 14:50:43 +0000> Subject: Re: A1-A2 Testing> > A New Zealand Corporation owns the test, owns the name, and has conducted and owns the "studies" that claim A2 is better for you.> > New Zealand cows, by their "studies", are A2.> > U.S. cows, by their "studies", are not.> > I'll bet you all $10 that the intention is to collapse the U.S. dairy industry with their "studies" and then have an exclusive monopoly to sell their milk to us.> > And we're all playing right into their hands by continually worrying about the A1/A2 status of our milk and cows.> > Holsteins were developed in the 1700s (by cross-breeding) to be good grazers.
