He probably thought he was showing concern or just wanted to talk about it..

some people are just awkward...maybe he forgot you gave him all that

stuff...or maybe he couldn't understand it. At a Shiva to talk about it is

weird,

Oh well...venting is good,, Hugs Liz

Last night and I had to pay a Shiva call. A Temple member's

husband passed away, so we gathered at her house for a prayer

service. Anyway, the Rabbi comes, does the service and then starts

to mingle. Now, I haven't been to Temple in quite a few weeks; let's

face it, by the time Friday night comes around I'm good for nothing.

Rabbi finally gets to me, while I'm sitting with my friend, Sandy,

and says, " so exactly what is this thing you have? " I've belonged to

this Temple for 7 years and NOW he's asking? And the only reason why

he's asking is because I haven't been to his worship service in a

long time.

I've sent him the link, handed him print outs from our website,

spoken to him face to face and NOW he's interested? I'm a little

ticked off, if you can't tell. To make it even more disgusting, he

came to speak with me during a Shiva! Not exactly tactful.

Thanks for allowing me to voice that frustration. Now I understand

why I'm hearing the buzz I'm hearing from other friends in Temple.

Take care and be well.

Thanks Liz. Talking about almost anything is difficult at a Shiva.

He just isn't socially suave I guess. He was talking politics with my

husband, cooking with one of my friends, parenting skills (that's a

joke) with someone else...let's face it, you don't have to be a brain

surgeon to be a Rabbi (G-d forgive me).

Our Temple's sanctuary is built almost in the round. My husband has

said from the first day we met the Rabbi that he is obviously a

frustrated actor. Friday night services is a kin to going to a live

stage performance. However, if something is not scripted, such as

last night, the Rabbi seems lost.

Thanks for the support, I do appreciate it.

Take care and be well.
