Dairy Question

Hello,

I found a fairly local place to buy raw cow's milk that does not

require me to purchase a cow share in order to do so. However, during

my search I also found a document on the NYS Dept. of Agri. website

stating that e. coli had been found in a milk sample taken in early

summer.

I know next to nothing about raw milk - how concerned should I be

about this?? Everything I read about e. coli says that it is horribly

dangerous. People in my family that would be drinking it range from 8

years old to in their 40's.

Should I ask the farmer if the samples since then have been clean or

just forget about getting milk from there?

There is another dairy where I am on the waiting list for a cow share,

so this is not my only option, although I do not know when they will call.

Thanks,

Polly
