Guest guest
AETNA is what we have... they do not cover any therapy for developmental delay related to autism. pt, ot, speech, etc, are only covered in a situation like a child had the ability and was in a car wreck and suffered a head injury or a broken leg and then they will cover it until the end of time to bring the child back up to where they were prior to the accident. i can't remember what they told me about aba but basically autism wasn't recognized as treatable with or without aba, pt, ot, etc. we do get some coverage for the disciplines under the congenital birth defect of agenesis of corpus callosum. and - the hospitalizations and anti-psychotic drugs prescribed - which can be attributed to my son's autism (non-verbal, unable to communicate where it hurts or even the fact that it hurts!!) - were covered! go figure! fridgudare2003 wrote: Do you happen to know which insurance he takes? This year we have the choice between BCBS & Aetna and are having difficulty finding out which ones are better for autism/apraxia in terms of both biomed coverage & therapy. Up until now we've had a terrible United Healthcare PPO. If my husband gets to transfer with the same company he's with now, our choices now will be important when we move.
