Hi All, I am once again looking for an Alabama strain of starter culture. Does anyone know where I might get one? I heard about this strain, which is especially good for fibromyalgia a few years ago and tried to contact Harmony Harvest, but Ariana was no longer around, and there was no one maintaining her business (She sounded like a remarkable lady). a kind subscriber did contact me and i was able to get a Alabama " baby " . I am hoping someone can help me once again. Cheryl
Guest guest
LOL...you know I am not sure I just heard the SCOBY's were especially useful in helping neurological symptoms. Have you ever heard that different brews are better at helping specific problems? I think the lady Ariana who used to run a site called Hamonic Harvest used to make this specific brew but I'm not sure how you would know if a SCOBY originated from her. I guess I just try one and see. Someone sent one to me a while back and it helped my friend with Fibromyalgia. I was brewing the tea too (for no specific ailment, but i did find it helped with digestion...I suffer from terrible indigestion and heartburn) but stopped after about a year or so and would like to start again. I live in Canada but would love a culture to start brewing and would pay cost to you if you can send one. Guest guest
Hi Alvin, So I searched and found this on the list from back in 2005 when I got my first culture. It explains what I mean by different strains...Jerrilyn was from Dothan, Alabama. " You might remember that I also used to have quite a large variety of cultures that I kept brewing and putting on standby for extended periods of time....The various cultures are definitely different, and can vary in effect as well as flavor outcome....Ari's Tibetan culture had been in my armentarium, but I lost it dur to my own personal neglect..:-(......I got sidetracked with other issues in life, is an easy was to say it...As I've mentioned before, I do still have your Sweet One and Jerrilyn Pate's, which Ariana coined the Alabama Strain... Another culture that I found fantastic was Cyril's culture...I'm sure that it had great tonic capacities, but what I found remarkable about it was it was soooooolight and fizzy in its brewing...YUMMMMMM " Cheryl
Guest guest
Hi EveryOne, While some people have claimed various things about their " strains " of Kombucha for sale, the truth is that in no time at all the Kombucha will adjust to it's new location and the ingredients you supply and will become different than the one that you started with anyway. No point in paying a lot for a special " strain " of Kombucha. Look up sourdough starters, same thing happens with those, you can start with a special sour dough from a particular place but quite quickly it will become unique to the yeasts etc. in your own location.
