Re: constipation in daughter

The way I look at it is that this is a magnesium supplement, rather

than simply a constipation remedy. Most people, especially our

children, are deficient in magnesium. Therefore, I would recommend

using it daily and adjusting the dosage accordingly. The body has an

amazing way of telling us how much we need. You might need to use

more at first, and then this may taper off a bit until you find a

good maintenance dose Magnesium is necessary for the proper

functioning of so many body systems, so taking it every day is a very

good idea.

I consider Oxypowder the " big guns " , for impacted stool and years of

serious constipation and bowel issues. It's often a good place to

start when these issues are present, and then move to something like

Natural Calm afterwards.

Sondra,

I buy Natural Calm at our local health food store. I would start with

1/2-1 tsp for Delaney (you mix it up as a drink) and work your way up

to a dosage that gets her bowels moving comfortably. 1 tsp is a good

starting point in older children and adults, and keep increasing it

to a good therapeutic and then eventually, maintenance dose. You can

get magnesium in other forms as well, if they don't like the Natural

Calm, but I would avoid mag oxide, which is not well absorbed.

Adding more vitamin C is also a good idea and helps with constipation

as well.

i use it for my 5 year old

its in the purest form and best you can get (most $$$ too)

i use the unflavored one and then i mix it all day few drops at a time through

out the day

or just mix it all at once before bed time or early in the minoring if you

prefer her to have a BM before bed time

the issue is that while it will give her loose stool, my daughter still have a

problem going... so i usually have to poke her with a suppository and then all

lets loose (sorry for the graphics here)

the yeast if high will block her passages ... i hope you get better results ...

i love the stuff... and it will make her sleepy if you give it to her at night

> If that is the case why would my daughters nero phy prescribe it

> for so

Why do doctors shoot up our kids with neurotoxins, insisting it's

safe? Why do thy prescribe anti-psychotics like Risperdal, which can

cause permanent neurological damage? Because that's a risk THEY are

willing to take with OUR kids. In their eyes, most people do fine,

so they prescribe them.

There are many alternatives. There are many alternatives. <WBR>... Oxy

vitamin C, inulin powder, ground flaxseeds, psyllium husks, aloe

juice, probiotics.. j

We have been following this constipation discussion over the past week very

closely.

I had been giving my 13 yr old daughter Miralax for the past several months

at the recommendation of her pediatrician. It was helping a lot.

I was concerned when some people wrote in that this was toxic and dangerous

to use.

This Monday I took my daughter to Baton Rouge for an appointment with her

DAN Doctor. While we were there I spoke to her about Miralax.

The DAN doctor said to absolutely stop using the Miralax. She equated it to

antifreeze.

We are now giving a product called " Natural Calm " that you buy at the

Health Food Store. We mix two teaspoons with water nightly. It is also

working. The main ingredient is Magnesium Citrate.

The DAN doctor also felt that we will see less agitation in when she

is not on the Miralax.

Hope this is helpful to someone else.

is 13 and 100lbs.

The DAN doctor said to use two teaspoons and mix it with water.

The DAN doctor said we could use it seven days a week and she did not say we

would have to quit.

I try to monitor as best as I can. If I see too loose a stool I would back

off and try every other day.

Getting the correct combination varies from person to person and you have to

try and play with the dosing schedule a little bit.

Thanks, Thats where I am struggling at. Getting the correct dosaging.

Also when she goes to the restroom. She will flush and then sit there

longer and them flush again. She will say yuck. Its hard to catch her

and also hard to know how much she is going. She either sits too long

or she is too quick.

Tootie,

I live in North Florida.

We have a good group of Dan Doctors in South Florida and one in ville.

After much research I chose Dr. Cave of Baton Rouge, LA.

I have taken my daughter there for the past three years. We go once or

twice a year.

I like Dr. Cave a lot and she has helped us. She blends Western medicine

with alternative treatments.

Our insurance does not pay so it can be an expense.

The Dr. Cave part is not too bad. The real expense seems to come in the

treatments and tests we decide to do and send to specialized labs.

After we consult with Dr. Cave and decide what we want to test and treat she

has her office manager break down the cost for me. That way if It is more

than I can afford I can modify it. At least there are no surprises at the end

of the day.

Her information is:

Cypress Integrative Medicine

10562 S. Glenstone

Baton Rouge, LA 70810

Hope this helps,

LC

Buffered vitamin C is a great, natural, method for changing

constipation as well. You can give all the vitamin C you want

until " too loose " occurs, then just back-off a bit.

Tootie,I live in North Florida. We have a good group of Dan Doctors in South

Florida and one in ville. After much research I chose Dr. Cave

of Baton Rouge, LA.I have taken my daughter there for the past three years. We

go once or twice a year.I like Dr. Cave a lot and she has helped us. She blends

Western medicine with alternative treatments. Our insurance does not pay so it

can be an expense. The Dr. Cave part is not too bad. The real expense seems to

come in the treatments and tests we decide to do and send to specialized

labs. After we consult with Dr. Cave and decide what we want to test and treat

she has her office manager break down the cost for me. That way if It is more

than I can afford I can modify it. At least there are no surprises at the end of

the day.Her information is:Cypress Integrative Medicine10562 S. GlenstoneBaton

I am not sure what you are mixing as there is no original post that you

are replying to.

If it is Miralax I would NOT give any to any child as it has NOT been

tested on children. I is basically anti-freeze.
