Wed - Huckabee's Punch/Core Express

Hi Everyone,

I tried the advanced workout from Huckabee's/Weight Watchers Punch DVD. I like it a lot! It wasn't super advanced, but I'd say it was a solid intermediate, sometimes flirting with upper intermediate (depending on what you put into it). The advanced routine is 45 minutes - that 45 minutes includes warm-up and cool-down time, so probably total time exercising is around 35 min. This one uses the ubiquitious pink weighted gloves (they come w/ kits and 10 Min Solution kits as well as this Weight Watcher's Kit!) to add intensity. The workout was mostly low impact - with some high impact options shown (which are optional, one of the backgrounders always does low impact). The higher impact options are jumping jacks, jump rope, etc. This one is not a 'pure' kickboxing routine - it is aerobics w/ a kickboxing flavor - if that makes sense. Not a lot of kicks - I think one combo used a kick -

but everything else was punching (per the title). In the advanced routine teaches 3 combos - you take it from the top a few times (but not too many), then you do the routine on the opposite side. So, sort of like Turbo Jam where you learn the routine on the right, do it a couple of times, then learn it on the left, do it a couple of times and move on. A definate keeper for me. I did the beginner workout a few weeks back, I don't recall much of it - it was 30 minutes (so probably 20 min total of exercise time once you subtract the warm up and cool down). I haven't yet done the intermediate routine - that one is 35 minutes. does a good job of cueing and encouraging - similar to the way she does in the PowerFITs. This one does provide opportunities to make it more challenging - similar to the PowerFITs - side steps can become skaters, squats can become plyo squats,

etc. I was pleasantly sweaty at the end but not beat up or exhausted.

I added on PowerFIt Harmony Core Express - a nice routine - some standing ab/balance work then some floor work.

Not sure what is up for tomorrow, I did all my PowerFITs for the week, I suppose I could do more or switch up and do something else.
