Guest guest
Have a scoby on the way. Have Lipton black tea prepared and waiting. But I want to migrate over to a good green tea, organic preferably. Perhaps sencha? What are your favorites and links to bulk sources? Guest guest
White Tea shouldn't be more expensive .. It is the least expensive to produce but ... the least demanded ... so ... As for organic green tea, a not expensive, honest and good tasting which by the way a makes a delicious and flagrant Kombucha is the one sold by Whole Food, their in-store brand (365).. Steeping time seems to be important with this one .. You leave it for more than 10 minutes (I suggest 6 ) and the brew becomes somewhat bitter. They also have a Black Tea version .. I like the Black Tea ( organic) from Newman , I think they call it Royal Tea ________________________________ To: original_kombucha Sent: Friday, April 27, 2012 6:26 PM Subject: Re: Green Tea of choice?  Or white tea? Guest guest
White tea is less processed, but the reason it is expensive is because it is only the tender new growth tips harvested in the first flush which is only 2 weeks out of the year. It doesn't need fermenting because the flavor is already mild and you can steep it for an hour without getting bitter. - Woody Subject: Re: Green Tea of choice? Guest guest
So what is the best tea to use. I allways thought Oolong tea was the best for a fast ferment and health benefits. Guest guest
Try mountainrose herbs as their white peoney is about same price as black tea $13-18 for a pound! > White Tea shouldn't be more expensive ..
