I'm currently married, children just animals cats and dogs. I'm 46 now I have been ill most of my life with some type of illness or surgeries, blood poisining. I have been dx with SLE Lupus, Fibromyalia, Parkinsonism, Monocular Degeneration of both eyes due to Medication Plaqenil (sp), Carpel Tunnel have to wear braces on both hands, back, hips, joint problems, as well as Arthritis in the hands, feet mostly,Mono at the present time as well as a flare going on, a few other things as well. I have to wear dark eye glasses and hats to cover my face plus put on a 45 factor Sun Block. Even then I get rashes at times. So, try to do most things at night or after 2:00p.m. for DR appointments. or later. I just saw a new PCP and she is going to be sending me to another specialist. I have lost to much weight in the last few months and finally got a DR who is listening to me with all the different types Cancer that runs in the family. I also had to see the eye specialist yesterday and things are not looking very well in that department either. I go back in two weeks to get the photo's taken of the eyes and find out what he is going to do or not do. The assistant said I had three things going on right now with my eyes. I'm very upset about this news as well as see another specialist in a few months. That's it for now. I'll catch you later. Take care of yourselves as best as you can. Guest guest
Hi Pattymelt & Lynn, Thank you for your nice welcome to my newest family. I have yet to hear a DR say Stills disease. But, I have so many symtoms of this disease as well as the others I had written before. I was dx with the SLE in 1997 but like I said I was always sick as a child. Had so many specialist after specialist one would say one thing then another would say something else. Until 1997 dx with the SLE ANA count and other things were out of range in my blood-work. My ANA count was also off as a child. But never was told what I had other than Asthma, Ulsers, Chonic Fig. Snydome, Chon's just to name a few. I have very bad reactions to medications I'm on Davocett N100, Valuim 0.05, Klonopin 0.05, Benadryl 25mg., Villedot patch 0.5mg. harmone replacement. Now the Eye Specialist wants me to take Viteyes. I said there are a lot of Vitamins that I can not handle with my stomach. They have their own website quite interesting to know what is in them. Since you can not see the list with in extra small print on the bottle. Sure is a lot of Vitamin A in it I think it is too much 25,000 units twice a day. Every other thing that is in it is what I eat everyday. I eat curtain type of fish so much per week. I'm not really sure if I should be taking that much more extra. I know a lot of people do not eat a lot of vegs., etc. ever since my dx I changed my diet to try not to go into flares. They still happen no matter what I do or eat. Just can not stop them from happening. Any way thank you both and everyone else to the family. Great Big Soft Angel Hugs!!! Vicki from Central, CA. U.S.A. Guest guest
Good Morning! I am new to the group and to the world of kefir/kombucha. I have been enjoying everyone's posts! I am a Chapter Leader for WAPF in central Ohio. Learning about Traditional Foods as I go and really having fun. I am ordering my grains this weekend , but waiting on the KT since I have no storage, HA. I don't think the family is ready for hidden bottles of KT all over the house, especially the exploding kind! I look forward to learning and sharing with you all. Leona
Guest guest
Hi Leona, welcome to the group! WAPF is awesome, i've lost over 30 lbs in 6 months with a nutrient dense diet. I got into kefir last fall, which led me to kombucha, and in general an explosion of investigation and that led to Nourishing Traditions. I know i'll never see those pounds again because i am eating literally to my heart's content. Something you may consider is getting another fridge. You can get good used ones on craigslist for very reasonable. We've got 2 freezers and 2 fridges now, and i'm thinking of adding another fridge. I do a lot of kombucha, and like to have a few cases of 24 in the fridge. It keeps very well in the fridge, it actually seems to get better with age, and you don't have to worry about bottles exploding. I'd love to try to keep some aside for months or even years to see how much it improves. If you're not into cultured foods you gotta check that out, with summer and cheap veggies you could easily fill a fridge with cultured veggies. - Woody Subject: Introduction To: original_kombucha Date: Friday, May 4, 2012, 8:27 AM Good Morning! Guest guest
Hi Woody! Thanks! I love WAPF. It has been going slowly as my husband and children are convinced they will die without Oreo's and Waffle Crisp, LOL! Congrats on your weight loss! I find when I eat better I am not as hungry all day. I am hoping to get some equipment over the next couple of weeks to start my KT and kefir. Cannot wait to have them homemade. I am on the lookout for refrigerators on craigslist ; will have to steal garage space, ha! Thanks for the encouraging words.
