Hi

So pleased that there are little gains and lots of useful information ... I think that all the muscle and ligament issues resolve as the body gets good oxygen feed. and if the initial baby reflex movements were missed, they need to be taught these to help develop the correct neural links... .. We have recently had a period of Tash having really bad pains down her neck and spine... I believe that this may be part of her body finally clearing long held bacteria infection she gained via a poor lumbar puncture when she was 11months old.

So looks like 2011 will be a brilliant year for both our girls.

Hi Tracey,Thankyou for your kind words.Seeing a specilaist podiatrist for Vicky's feet was another one of those rainbow moments for us. The podiatrist measured in exact degrees just how much her feet and ankles deviated from the ideal 90degree position. He found her to have one ankle 10degrees everted and the other ankle inverted, a functional limb length difference on the left side, tonic muscles in the foot and ankle on the left foot, hypotonic muscles on the right foot, 2 hypermobile joints in each foot, the large toe joint was locked when standing and walking, mild knock knee. There were a few other things, but, her mechanics were significantly contributing to her fatigue and discomfort. The new, custom made orthotics were immediately comfortable for Vicky.

There is a chiropractor attached to the practice and the podiatrist suggested that Vicky see her - has long been saying that chiropractic intervention helps the TST. We found even more out from the chiropractor who found that Vicky's muscles were tonic down all of her left side and hypotonic down her right side, she has virtually no reflexes, her ligaments in her ankles are tight, her muscle across her chest are tight and her calve muscle were very tight - this was due to the continual compensations she was having to make as a result of her mechanical problems with her feet. The calf muscles have now relaxed. The other good thing is that Vicky can now go to her dance/drama class for 3 hours and be in bare feet - something she couldn't do before - the podiatrist said that if you wear the orthotics for 70% of the time then the feet develop a memory and they can stay in the right position for a while without the orthotics.

All of this information I fed back to via Lily when we were last at Advance and will assess her when we next go back. It may be that Vicky could tolerate the ankle exercises we were doing better now that we have relaxed the muscle in her legs and worked on extending the ligaments.

It is so wonderful to hear that Tash has been seizure free for so long.> > > > > >

I met a wonderful young man recently who was a neuro scientist and part of a group that proved that nerves can regenerate.... So this supports my views that the damage to Tash's spine with two poor lumbar punctures will be overcome.  Also Tash was born with her feet crossing over her tummy.. and early on was very pigeon toed.. and she used to walk on the balls of her feet mainly... all of this is righting itself... much was done with osteo and the rest has happened with flexibility gains with TST....

We are definately getting there ... our girls will be very proud of us one day!!

Hi Tracey,The reflexes I am talking about were the knee and ankle reflexes. According to my research, these are spinal reflexes and the nerve message does not go to the brain. A total lack of these reflexes indicates a disruption of nerves at the spinal column and probably a lesion in the spinal cord. We addressed the retained primitive reflexes with the INPP programme when Vicky was 5.

Vicky had a poor lumbar puncture at six weeks old when she had meningitis.Problems with the spinal cord for Vicky would explain alot of things.Yet more information to give , who I hope will be able to do something about this.
