I got this from my Saanen Talk group, it's long, but please read and forward to

other groups or people you think can help. Thanks, ~Arlene

......

I have some lovely does that I have not been able to sell. I am in a

situation where I will not be able to stay on my farm. I can not bring

myself to turn them into meat. There are two options I am now seeing for

myself - find someone who will really appreciate them and sell them dirt

cheap, or find someone with a facility where I can house them until I get

myself and my human kids re-housed with a barn, which is the goal. I am

going to have to give up my farm, but I am trying to keep some of my herd.

I am now down to 9 (from close to 30) and the goal was to get down to 2

milkers.... but I have these 3 registered dry Nubian does (spotted) who my

children and I have bottle raised that will not sell - sometimes I think the

reason is that I do not WANT (!!!!) to sell them.

I am currently living in Central Michigan (Saranac, between Lowell and

Ionia) and planning to relocate to thegreater Ann Arbor area as soon as I

can manage. Is there anyone out there who can buy and love my 3 beautiful,

registered, CAE negative does? I have never had Cl on the property or in any

of my herd. This is not a charity purchase - these does have excellent

breeding. They are full sisters, Naomi is a three year old and Yoko and

Loie are dry yearlings - I do not breed the first year so they can put on

some growth before the stresses of kidding.

Their sire is from Marge Perrin's herd - Kay-ems Nubians, which is g6s

normal, and his (Jax's) linear appraisal score was 91 EEE the summer of

2010. Jax's dam, Crackers, was an Elite doe who was been Top Ten for 3 years

& has a lifetime production of over 26,000#. Jax's three full siblings are

Penny (who appraised in 2010 at 90 at 2 years of age & on her last test milk

produced 7.9#, Penache (also appraised 90, better milker than Penny, but

lost one side due to mastitis) & Promise (88, not quite the milker the other

two are). Jax's daughters have had high wide rear udders & milk well.

Here are the links to the Dam and Sire of all three of the does I have.

I have uploaded picture of these does and their dam to the files:

My other option would be to find someone in the Ann Arbor or Saranac area

who can house these three does and a Saanen and an Oberhasli doe, as well,

for the near future. I do have a friend who can take the Saanen and

Oberhasli, but would prefer to keep my girls all together if that is

possible.

I see myself being relocated and ready to put my goats in my own barn before

Christmas, but I do not have any idea when this outcome will actually come

to pass. So I need someone who is prepared to house them indefinitely, or

until I can sell them if that is what has to happen. I will provide hay and

grain, mineral, kelp and do all of the caring for them like worming, BoSe,

hoof trimming etc. They just need someone to feed them and water them on a

daily basis, but I may be able to take over these duties and help with

caring for your animals as soon as I get myself and my children into new

housing.. I have milk stands, heated water buckets and other necessary

equipment. I am looking into getting a barn cam where I can watch them

remotely from on-line - Toots(Saanen) and Molly Oberhasli) are hopefully

bred and due in about 4 months. I want to be there for the kidding.

This is long, but there is one more thing (now I am starting to feel like an

info-mercial!): I am also looking to rent a place for my children (3 and 6)

to live, with a barn where I can keep my goats (2 or 5 depending) and 7

chickens in the greater Ann Arbor area. I also have a son attending U of M

(Physics department - I have to brag on my math genius) who will be spending

holidays with me. I would love a safe, clean (non-smoking) house sharing

situation where we can cook together and share family dinners and barn

chores - Instant farm, just add Barn! OR some kind of rental with a barn or

a neighbor with a barn where I can keep my animals. I do not have any

indoor animals and I like living close, so we do not require a large indoor

living space - a 1 bedroom could work.

Please respond privately or call me at 616 642-6666 if you have offers,

suggestions or rental property that is available. If you see any options I

am missing, please let me know!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
