Guest guest
Holy Cow K! Talk about being through the mill! You are amazing, you must know that. I'm glad to meet you though I'm sorry it has to be this way. I'm Ellen. I've been with the group maybe a year and half to two years, I think. I to be honest I can't seem to remember how long I've been here. I don't mark time when it comes to family. I won't keep you, I know you have things to do such as relaxing (very important) and I have house work to do. I had my rest this morning when I woke up with a headache...again. What do you expect, it's Florida weather. Take care and be well. Ellen

Guest guest
Welcome to the family! Have you put any thought into what kind of medicine you want to practice? I'm sure medical school is stressful,so I hope you're being as kind to your body as you can be. I got sick in 1999,but didn't get the Still's diagnosis until 2002. I have gotten a great deal of kindness and support here. Be well! Nissa from Seattle To: stillsdisease From: beelna@... Guest guest
Beelna welcome to our family a safe place to vent be frustrated and still receive hugs and compassion. I found it sad but funny about the age you were when they think you started all of this as it is about the same age they are saying with my self .. I was not dx tell DEC 2000. from then on it was real bad for some years in a row then good and now bad again. now looking back it has kind of fallowed my hole life that i remember years of being sick all this time almost losing and losing jobs from it and then other times doing good and being way more acctive then any one person should be and still be called normal LOL. again welcome to the family place and wishing you great stamina so that you can finish school and move on to the next chapter in your life hugs the rednecks Marty & G. the redneck's my space http://www.myspace.com/martyg58 Stills ; An illness I know to well! Guest guest
Hi: I'm and I live in north Georgia. My email address is burnberries@.... I am new to the group as of last week and have been reading all the posts so far. Such great info. My family has been drinking real milk for a little over 2 years. I drive to a dairy in the next county over and buy it directly from the tank. During the last 2 years, my kids have bumped up their consumption of milk from less than 2 gallons/week to almost 6/week; they've had no cavities in the last 18 months; my allergy asthma child has reduced symptons and lessened medication; and my toddler, who has never consumed pasteurized milk at all, is healthier than her siblings were at the same age and able to rebound from minor childhood illnesses more quickly and with less stress. I am shopping for a Jersey this spring so I can bring this joyousness right onto the farm. I need access to more grass-fed milk than I can get for everything I want to make. Guest guest
Welcome. Being a veteran homeschool mom, I'm sure you will figure out if the Charlette Mason way will work for your little guys. You may just have to try it and have a plan B ready. I've been homeschooling for 10 years now and am just switching to more classical methods of teaching. My 8-year-old son has autism and he tires of being read to, but if I can distract him with something visual, he still listens and catches most of it. You may need more visuals while you read a loud, maybe a coloring sheet to color while you read, something that pertains to the story, or some extra pictures to go with that go with the story. My son is ahead in core subjects and his deficits are mostly behavioral, social, etc. His reading comprehension went through the roof this last year, so he is working several levels ahead now and I can combine more with his older siblings. Before this, I spent a lot of time showing and explaining vocabulary words like goat, etc. We are big into diet and supplements which have been a huge part in his success. Just today, I had a lot of read aloud because a library book was due back. He sat next to me and followed along as I read for awhile, he corrected me a few times too which is fun. Also, watch for the sensory issues to surface. When my son has reached his threshold of being read to, he will start banging, crashing, climbing, and rubbing his forehead on things. At that point he needs either his forehead rubbed, some squeezy hugs, or a sensory break where he takes 5 minutes in the playroom with a sibling who helps him get his energy out and his system back in balance. Hope this helps and please feel free to share tips that have worked for your kids with homeschooling. Blessings, Corinne --- sharimauricio@... wrote: To: <preacch > Subject: [PREACCH] Introduction Date: Mon, 7 Dec 2009 11:02:56 -0800 Hello all, I'm hoping to get information and encouragement from this list. I have been homeschooling for 15 years and have graduated two children. Right now I have two little boys that are 4 and 3. Not school age yet, but we will be homeschooling them. My 3yo is PDD-NOS, and while my 4yo isn't on the spectrum, he has sensory issues and a receptive language disorder. I am having to parent very differently from my older two, and while formal school is still at least a year away it is something I've been trying to prepare for. Right now I'm more concerned with them communicating than academics, although they are learning some preschool things. I am using the Communicating Partners book by Mac right now and it is very helpful. I was hoping to use the Charlotte Mason style for school, but understanding what they hear is a concern. I'm wondering if a different style would be better. Blessings, Shari Sam-4 and Ben-3 _____________________________________________________________ Netscape. Just the Net You Need.
