I'm aseel bandora from Jordan..i have a 2 years old baby girl her name is besan..besan was born with infantile scoliosis and we know from the first days that something wrong with her back but the doctors there in Jordan find out that she had scoliosis when she was 8 months old and her angle was 30 degrees back then,then the doctors in Jordan told us to wait another 6 months just watching besan and after the 6 months besan's angle was increased to be 68 degrees which comes like a shock for all of us including her Doctor !!!!!!!! so after that they want to start surgeries for besan and it was very hard to accept..after searching on the Internet we found about Shriner's hospital and we came to USA a year ago,besan was lucky to be treated in Shriner's hospital ,Philly,and with her great doctor ,doctor ashgar besan start casting in last January and now she is in her 7Th cast and she is doing great thanks god,besan angle decreasing a lot and now it is 22 degree cast free and like 18 degrees in the cast... but we came to USA in a treatment visa its like you r visiting so we are not allowed to work her and we live now for one year from our saving back in Jordan and with help from our relative that we are living with them in CT..it has been a year now and we almost finish all of the money that we came with and no way to change our status...we need to go back to Jordan ..we can't work here (we r both engineers ) and we almost lost our jobs there in Jordan... i want to ask u all if you know any organisation or any comity can help us afford tickit back and forth from Jordan to USA every 3 months for recasting and doctor ashgar told us that besan will need to be seen every three months at least for 2 coming years which is coming impossible to be working with us...and our relatives is also can't continue helping for this long time please if u know any organisation can help contact me we need it we are in the middle of hard spot between besan treatment and our life...thanks a lot for listening aseel Get your preferred Email name! However, since then we have the x-rays done by a local ortho and then I overnight the films to her out of state doctor. His nurse e-mails me his comments such "Looks great, keep doing what your doing and redo x-rays in 4 months", or they might tell us to adjust her amount of time in brace, etc. That might cut down on the amount of travel you would need to do once your child is able to transition from cast to brace if you can find a doc back home willing to partner with you on the x-rays. I am not sure if they will pay for travel from another country to the US, but I know that they often help families with flights WITHIN the U.S. I could ask a few people at Shriners for you if you like. What about programs like Donor Miles - and what's the other one, Angel Flights or Miracle Flights?? There is also an organization that brings kids here from other countries for treatment (actually they receive treatment at Shriners in Philadelphia). However, they focus on bringin children over from war-torn countries (for example, a child who may have lost a limb to a land mine, etc.) But it's worth a shot - it's called Global Medical Relief Fund. They do a lot of work with Shriners in Philly. Best of luck to you!! P.S. I just want to confirm that your daughter's name is Besan Bandora, right? This way they will know which of Dr. Asghar's patients I am speaking of.
