Guest guest
Are you serious??? Where did you get that "fear driven twist" about that petition from? The petition CLEARLY states: Every year in the United States, an estimated 6 to 8 million lost, abandoned, or unwanted dogs and cats enter animal shelters and nearly half of these animals—many of them healthy, young, and adoptable—must be euthanized because there are too many animals and not enough good homes. This tragedy occurs because people don't spay and neuter their animals and because greedy breeders continue to churn out more puppies. Because all dogs and cats are precious and because no more animals need to be bred when so many others go without hope of being adopted, PETA is calling for a mandatory spay-and-neuter law until all dogs and cats in the United States have a home to call their own. Sign the petition calling for a mandatory spay-and-neuter law to help end the animal overpopulation crisis. This is a valuable & steadfast petition & I'm glad that over 8,000 people were able to see that!!! Guest guest
I agree with Ellen Schawb. I would not sign anything that PETA is involved with either. I just read an article that PETA was going to use porn to get there message across about all of these mistreated animals. Isn't that twisted. Because of unrealiatic and let me repeat unrealistic people people like them banned horseslaughter because it was cruel. And now instead of these animals being humanely killed they are living horrific lifes and even more horrific deaths all because these silly people live in a fantasy world. And no Bambi can't couldn't and never did talk. Leaving a horse tied to a tree in a park because they thought someone else would come along and take it is unrealistic. The skeleton hanging from the rope ought to prove that. Guest guest
What about working dogs that are in short supply in many places, how are we supposed to get real working guardian dogs, if no one can breed them any more????? It is not just any old mutt that can be a livestock guardian dog. this kind of one size fits all rule is completely ridicules for those of us who are trying to make a living working on the land and with small livestock?? I think they are not so well thought out, or maybe they are very well thought out, of course PETA is VERY opposed to those of us making a living with animals. It is against their manifesto.........so why would they care if they put us out of business. My question is would someone on a Raw dairy forum support anything related to PETA, who is so deeply opposed to domestic animals in any form. If PETA has there way there would be no dairy in any form. So if you want your dairy in any form, you are automatically in opposition to the foundational beliefs of PETA and those beliefs are the basis for any and everything they do. It may sound all wonderful and compassionate, but they are pulling your heart strings to get you to support a very subversive agenda and they are very successful. The American people are so easily manipulated it is pathetic....why do you think we are in this mess. The government has no business dealing with stray animals......that is a private or local government issue, NOT A US GOVERNMENT ISSUE!! Guest guest
Greetings, Most if not all shelters will refuse to give cats to farmers. The idiots think cats should be strictly indoor. We have had to quit supporting all shelters because of this nonsense. Barn cats are so necessary to a farm, and yes, mine get fed. Mice are fun to catch, they don't rely on them for food. The cities are finding they are having real trouble with mice and rats, due to the stupid laws about keeping cats indoors. We are going to have to go through a few plague years for the idiots that promote junk like peta to learn, animals have a job to do. Guest guest
Greetings, What is progressive about robbing farmers of the natural workers? We live in partnership with out animals, and yes all my cats and dogs are fixed. Particularly the male cats as they live longer. The laws you are talking about will harm the farmer as much as the stupid laws about horses hurt the horses. Around here, when you go to a livestock auction, you make sure you lock your trailer, or you find a horse in it when you come back. Garbage hay is $100 for a round bale, no one can afford to feed the horses, so they starve. This is what Peta and tunnel vision idiots have done for the horses. And yes, I ate horse meat in Europe. The beauty of a horse is that it can work all it's life and still be a tender steak when it is no longer useful as a worker. I wish I could give as much to those who love me. Horses were only eaten in dire times, traditionally. In more ways than one, they kept their families alive. Peta has made that sound like a horror story instead of the wonderful gift it is. I await the day people who support the peta nonsense actually get hungry, they will reap all the benefits of the nonsense they have piled on the workers of the soil. I hope they enjoy it. If you choose to hurt yourself, by not drinking raw milk, do you really think that will hurt us? What kind of childish tantrum is this? Like the child that will hold it's breath until it turns blue? Why do you think that harming yourself is of a value? Guest guest
Can the red necks get in the game? <G> I earned my red neck, and I appreciate my animals. PETA is no friend to them. Val is pulling the 'typical' PETA tricks. Play on emotions. Call people who disagree names. Stomp off in a huff when anyone disagrees. Call more names. Not to mention ignore facts and disrespect any choice that is not in line with theirs. Bye bye Val. More milk for me. Guest guest
With that kind of attitude you have no business here any way. Good bye and good luck. Guest guest
what hysteria! the ONE redneck farmer who does take care of his cats, and presumably the small animal husbander who uses herding dogs were taking care of their own animals.. INCLUDING WHAT NEUTERING WAS NEEDED TO MANAGE THEIR HUSBANDRY WORK... which is what PETA was seeking for the burgeoning masses of ABANDONED animals in the city and suburbs where packs of wild dogs are not that uncommon. And for that matter, even in the not-so-farm rural areas we see that cats left wild do succumb in the winter. The carnage is horribly NOT ANIMAL HUSBANDRY and yet this group which OUGHT TO BE SUPPORTING DECENT HUSBANDRY rejects hysterically the PRECISE request of the petition... I fully grant that the US govt has no authority and should not be dabbling in this idea but the USDA has already sold dogs and cats up the river with their connivance with the FDA on NUTRITION. Meanwhile the fools bankrupting the people of this country have it on their heads the abandonment of these animals. Look at the cuty faces of those up for adoptions, those are not working dogs and northern-able cats.. instead of euthanizing them we need to have trap-neuter-release programs PLUS animal sheltering habitats around the homes of suburban and city areas, and even rural-towns. Instead we see the rural towns and their periphery slobberingly wolfing down every city stupidity they can get dumped on them. PETA has a point and I have to say that if we expect to make headway on the horrible pile of disasters in this country we're going to have to take every decent idea we can find and figure out how to improve what that idea is pointing to. Most petitions have 'caveat' notes that you can append to your sig, where you can make your own variation on the main idea, get that idea into circulation among people who care about the idea you found decent. City people need to see how herders and barn cats are valued, the trap-neuter-release group need to tackle the lawn-zoning insanity, the rural people need to actually do the neutering when they do the breeding or when they stupidly release cat breeds not suited to the climate. Many cats are desert creatures and then there are the dogs... We lived on the boundary of the city-rural areas and have seen both sides. Abandoned show pets, marauding packs of wild abandoned dogs, hideous euthanizing, animals not suited to this climate but expected to make a living in the country. Circulate your ideas among those who care and stop ignorantly labeling groups that decently are working on the horrible problems around us. PETA was actively working to defeat the factory farms as well as to solve the pet population nightmare. They surely don't have the answers in their hands and are pulled this way and that within their own structure, with a 'mercy for animals' contingent, and a vegan contingent, and the original peta husbandry contingent and who knows what else. Let's figure out what we know and circulate that. ttyl I agree with you 100%. Chris PETA lies. I would not sign anything that helps them. Ellen Schwab Ohio Are you serious??? Where did you get that " fear driven twist " about that petition from? Guest guest
I don't argue that there is a problem and it needs to be taken care of, and that PETA may have a good plan. The problem is I DON' TRUST THEM!! I do not know what twisted agenda they have up their sleeve. they are very close to green peace who puts trees and spotted owls before human lives, they spike trees and killed sawmill operators, and thought nothing of it as long as progressed their ideology, and "saved" the world. Then it turned out the "rare" spotted owl bred wonderfully in Christmas tree plantations, the exact opposite of old growth forest. These are two very closely related organizations, that are very dangerous specifically because they are "doing good" matt Petition everyone needs to be aware of..To: RawDairy Date: Tuesday, September 27, 2011, 8:36 AM *VERY IMPORTANT PETITION- PLEASE FORWARD AND POST ON OTHER THREADS**I copied this from one of my other sights. ~Arlene... Guest guest
Good riddance. Why would you even begin to label a group, whether progressives or conservatives; we are here because we believe in the health benefits of wholesome raw milk, not because of politics. For you to leave because you disagree with someone looks like you don’t really care about your health. The people on this site live in all kinds of different situations. PETA is historically a group that takes matters into their own hands, and not necessarily thinking of the long term consequences. They react to singular situations and many times it ends badly, for them and for the animals they say they are trying to save.Folks like us who are trying to make a living and raise goats too (they usually don’t go hand in hand) have enough difficulties already without PETA getting involved. Guest guest
There is no way I would support a mandatory spay and neuter law. It is too bad that pet animals land up being put down but we need working dogs, which are also a valuable part of my family, and they have a life span. Guest guest
there were protesting outside an elementary school in Wpg a few years ago and had all kinds of horrible pics of things they were showing the kids. Guest guest
Greetings, If peta had their act together, maybe what you say would be right, but they are a bigger problem than the one they want to solve. They are behind the move that allows shelters to deny farmers the right to adopt because they believe all barn cats are abused. Come meet my barn cats if you believe that drivel. They are in perfect health, sleek, shiney and extremely well fed on a raw diet. But, I can't adopt from any shelter. I have a vet that will give me a very high rating as a pet owner, he knows my animals and is always amazed at the quality of care we give. But, I am a farmer, I want my cats and dogs to work. Thus I am a bad guy. As long as peta gets behind nonsense like this, they will be the hated org on any list of homesteaders and farmers. They have set themselves against us. Not the other way around.
