Guest guest Posted April 10, 2008 Report Share Posted April 10, 2008 Todd's 3rd cast was removed today!!! He is so very happy and wiggly! But also very, very itchy. We've not had this with the first 2 casts. Any suggestions? I'm worried he will scratch himself raw--it's the lower back, where the cast was really tight. I have cleaned him off as well as possible. I tried calendula cream. It was the first time we'd ever used it, so I was kind of worried it might have made the itching worse, so I gave him another bath a few hours later! I know we're not supposed to put lotion on it to keep from making the skin too soft, but I think if he scratches it all off, we're worse than soft, right? So I put some gentle water-based unscented face lotion on. Still itchy, so later I put a little Benadryl cream on it, too. Anything else I haven't thought of?? Anyone else ever have this much itchiness??? Thanks! , Mommy to Todd PS He gets cast #4 on Friday in Birmingham. We hope to get good news about the correction from this cast since the previous one did nothing. Please say a prayer for him if you're so inclined! Thanks!
