WE always used Duoderm.

It worked awesome every time Evan had a sore.

We would use some antibiotic ointment from the doc for a day or two, then allow it to dry completley after we washed it and applied the Duoderm for up to 3 days and then reapplied as necessary.

HTH

I have some if you'd like me to send it to you. It cost approx $60 a box!!

We are fighting a terrible pressure sore on Jack's hip.It is not scabbing - the cast keeps rubbing it open - and we havetried everything (as well as contacting Dr. Khoury with photos). We were given the OK to use a product called "NuSkin" - but when Ilooked, all I found was New Skin - a liquid bandage that warned ofstinging upon application (and not to be aplied to an open wound). Iopted to not use that and continued to look to see what else was outthere. A friend recommend 2nd Skin and said it was fanastic for herson's burns. said it looked okay to use - but I wanted to besure there wasn't something better out there before I go get this. She also recommended padding the hips as much as possible when he's inthe car - but even putting his legs in a semi-reclined (rear-facingcarseat) position make hims scream in pain. We can't even take him tothe grocery store in town like this. I put

some cotton gauze on it(the stuff used to pad the edges before taping) and it stuck to tehwound and hurt him as it came off. I'm not sure what else to do.Sandi-- Mom to Madison, Skylar, on, Piper, & - diagnosed withinfantile scoliosis at 10 months with a 70° right thoracic curve.Currently undergoing serial casting.

Oh, this sounds great. I will go look for it tomorrow, too. Todd also has a bad pressure sore on the hip, which I was afraid was getting infected. I took him to the ped today, who said it's not infected yet. She said use neosporin until the raw places are not raw, but I know the orthos all advise against that. Thank you so much!

,

Stay away from the neosporin. I haven't heard anything positive

especially in children so young.

Hi , I was just wondering what a jelly blister bandage is? Thanks, Liz McSheffrey wrote: Hi Sandi, With Finn's first cast he had a very bad pressure sore on his hip. I used a sterile product from CVS made for pressure sores and opens

wounds but I can't remember what it was called. I have two left (but not the box) and the packages says -Hydrogel Dressing 2' x 2". I cut the dressing in a circle to the size of the wound and then covered it with a jelly blister bandage. I applied this for two days and at the end of two days it was completely covered over with no future problems. The dressing were about $12.00 for four in the pack. I highly recommend it. Finn's sore was awful and it completely healed it. Hope this helps. The jelly blister bandage is actually a bandage that is used on a blister (on your feet) but it has a lot of cushion to it. I would not put it over a raw sore but I used it over the wound dressing. You would not want it to stick to the open skin.

We've bought those for trips to WDW and while they're great on our

feet, I wouldn't use them here. There is a big warning on the inside

of the package and I've had it rip off the outer layer of skin.

They worked great for us and even would start to be non adhesive after a day or so and came right up. They protected Finn's hips and the sores were gone so I am not to worried about the warning. Thanks though. > The jelly blister bandage is actually a bandage that is used on a blister> (on your feet) but it has a lot of cushion to it. Dear everybody,

I bet one of the reason why there are pressure sore in some casted area is because the cast is getting tighter because the child is getting bigger...My problem is Eiddelyn cast I observe is getting loose. I think she has more space now between her cast and her body than when she just got the cast.

I was told by the doctor that one criteria to re cast is when the cast gets tighter but hers doesn't. Anybody who has the same experience. My daughter does not eat a lot and jhad alsways been in the low percentile for her weight.
