Guest guest
LOL! How do I put it mildly? Spinervals music is pretty awful! That's not his specialty. It somehow doesn't bother me. I usually keep it turned down low just loud enough to hear his cues. My favorite is 8.0 The Uphill Grind. I would recommend that one over the others. It's super hard, just like a real cycling climb. Real climbs are murder. You'll forget about the music because you'll be suffering so many other ways! I promise you can't fall asleep with this one. Spinervals 8.0 doesn't let you turn off the music. The newer ones let you turn off the music, so you can play your own. 16.0 Aero Base Builder lets you do that. I usually pull my laptop over to the workout area and play my own spin mix. This one is more steady state, and it's looooong, so it really does help to play your own music. Have fun chica!! So the spin bike arrives tomorrow and I'm REALLY antsy! I'm also waiting for Turbo Kick Round 43 to get here. People in Cali have it but we in Stumptown (that's the local term for Portland, Oregon) don't have it yet! Peoples' credit cards got charged on the 9th and we STILL don't have it! Usually it only takes a few days :/ If I get R43 today that will most certainly be today's workout, if not I'll do Turbo Kick Best Of Volume 4 and some stretching. Tomorrow WILL be a Les Mills RPM workout.ANGELICA: A friend lent me a Spinervals workout. I like the instruction and the drills very much but the music is canned, no lyrics. Are all of them like this? I don't think I could do this workout without falling asleep, I need good music!!! The same friend also lent me Epic Ride, a filmed ride though Tuscon. I like the live scenery but again the music is canned and I don't think I could do this workout for the same reason as above. Do you have any of the ny G Spinning DVDs and are they like this? How about the ones Mindy Mylrea put out?The Reebok ones?I love love love RPM and am hoping to find something similar if possible. Thanks!
Guest guest
I forgot to mention, I only have Spinervals 7.0, the Uphill Grind, 16.0 Aero Base Builder 1, 8.0 Recovery and Technique, and 27.0 Threshold test. I also have a Bike-0-Vision of Zion National Park & So Utah. I haven't done that one yet. I don't have any of the others you mentioned. I have all that I need because most of my cycling is outdoors. Guest guest
Very cool! I totally understand about the music. Funny thing. Today I was looking at Kettlebell Way for upper body moves, and the music just set me off. I love the music in between those sets. Maybe I've bonded with that music because I'm always so endorphinated while I'm playing it. It's not that the music is that great. I wouldn't play it by itself. I love all the music while I'm doing that one. The music during the Figure 8's makes me so happy. Thanks so much for the down low on Spinervals! Guest guest
For Kettlebell Way I'm so focused on executing the moves with proper form that I don't need great music to push me through but for cycling when you're just stationery, either in the saddle or out I *really* need music to take my mind off the monotony! Keep in mind, I'm a Turbo Kick instructor who is used to following and teaching more complex choreography and crave the mental challenges of that. Spinning for me is boring... Guest guest
I totally understand. You can probably also buy music that's geared towards spinning. You don't really need the DVDs. I've done trainer workouts with just my iPod, and they've been fantastic. Do you have iTunes? There's a way to find the BPM of your music, and the create a Smart Playlist that'll select them for you. Do you have a Mac? I have playlists that'll give me an assortment of songs at the right cadence. You could arrange them by BPM, but you can also just let it give you a random mix. If the cadence is in a range, then you'd have higher and lower cadences coming up at random. If the cadence is slow, and you want to raise your HR, then you can increase your resitance. That's sort of like real riding. Often the terrain is pretty random.
