Guest guest
Great news! Please keep us posted on how she is doing. Best Wishes- Tina Update Hi everyone,Just wanted to let you all know that we went to Philly Shriners this morning for a second opinion on our daughter Emma. Just to refresh memory-she's 8 months old, with a 40+ degree curve and rvad over 50 degrees. She was casted with a different type of cast- non Mehta cast- however, we wanted to get a second opinion to see if we couldn't get a better type of cast put on-- a Mehta cast. We were happy with what they had to tell us, and we're going to be getting in soon hopefully to get the Mehta cast put on. Thanks to everyone for all your help! We're going to be out of town for a bit, but when we get back and have her casting appointment I will update. Take care everyone!Jay

Guest guest
That's great news. I hope you will really get some good results there. We met some of the docs brifely at an ETP we took Evan to several years ago and seemed like a really nice facility. Guest guest
Good to hear from you , and great news about the school!!!HUGS..Darcy OT first: My kids' elementary school will remain open. I attended the Board meeting on Monday and heard the 6-1 vote to close the other school. It was not a victory because it was all so sad but we are still very relieved. That's a big thing off my mind and schedule (meetings, getting ready for the meetings, etc.) too. Next up is I'm serving on what is called a discernment committee for a woman who wants to become a deacon (ordained) in the Episcopal church. Our committee helps her discern her call, be it to ordained or perhaps lay ministry and recommend to the Bishop whether or not to accept her as a candidate for ordination. Our first meeting is next Monday. Hopefully these will only be once or twice a month. I was really flattered to be asked to be a part of it, as it is a priest from another church in our area that asked me (I attended a class he taught a couple of years ago and got to know him there), but it comes right on the heels of the school stuff! Oh well, I'd be bored if I had any time to be bored I guess!  EV next: I've still been doing Maximum Body Shaping. Monday I did that, then Day 2 of 5 Day Abs (thank you everyone who helped, I figured out that if I hold down the ff or reverse buttons that it WILL let me do those things, if I just hit forward or reverse I'll get the circle with the line through it, still can't find any chapters but can at least move to the place I want to be) and then I did Open Heart beginner practice or something like that off Yoga Complete for Every Body (love this DVD). It was wonderful!! I miss my yoga! Today, I had a lot less time so I just did Maximum Body Shaping but I seriously upped my weights using mostly 12s and sometimes 10s for the lower body stuff and biceps and upright rows. I used 5s for the delt stuff and 8s for triceps kickbacks. I even got to use my 15s for pec flies! I pushed myself super hard and it felt SO awesome! I'm FINALLY really back to working out or at least REALLY wanting to. My schedule is still crazy but the DESIRE to work out is finally back so I'm trying harder to get them in. I was going to work out 4 times this week but tomorrow is shot. I have to drive the kids to school (DS has a big project to bring in and can't do the bus) and grocery shop in the morning, work in the afternoon and then have lunch and go to work in the evening too. But, I will definitely work out again on Friday. That will be workout #9 for Maximum Body Shaping. I'm trying to see if the " Visible Results in Just 10 Workouts " claim is true and with 8 down I can say it definitely is! I was getting soft from not working out much in 2+ months and the definition in my arms, stomach and legs is coming back, it is awesome and I feel so much better about myself in that sense too. I've decided this is a definite " desert island " workout for me. I'm not getting bored with it at all and I've really got down the few parts that I was confused about (because I wasn't watching carefully enough, the video and cueing are fine). After I do workout #10 I'm either going to keep working with it or possibly switch to another FIRM video or a few. I am loving the results from this one. Haven't decided yet but the cool thing is that I actually am getting excited about my videos and rotations again. Yea!!  Gotta get some sleep now. Some day, I really want to get caught up on all the postings. I miss chatting with all of you! There's 600+ posts in my EV mailbox right now though!
Guest guest
Yes, good to see you, ! Glad to hear that your school is staying open, but sorry about the other one. Wow, I'm so impressed that you are still enjoying MBS! Good job! I did Tracie's Tortoise workout the other day, and tho' it took be a bit to warm up to it, I liked it, too! But I won't be repeating it anytime soon, what with my short attention span and easy boredom, lol! Hope to hear more from you soon! Sara > > OT first: My kids' elementary school will remain open. Guest guest
I picked up my new (used) transfirmer today!!! It the 2 piece version and is a lot bigger than I was expecting (the size of the fanny lifter made me think it might be smaller) but that is okay. It is a little scuffed on some of the corners but is in excellent condition otherwise. I fooled around with it a little and it will a huge ton easier to change around than playing with my club step and slanted risers, plus my small step (or now, my fanny lifter) for leg presses. I'm very excited about it and the woman I bought it from was too because she wasn't using it anymore! I paid $20 and got the transfirmer and 4 DVDS: Supercharged Sculpting, Ultimate Calorie Blaster, Jiggle Free As and Aerobic Body Shaping** (see note at bottom). Jiggle Free Abs is still sealed in the plastic too! Buying all that new would have been $80 plus shipping!!! Even on ebay I haven't seen it all go for less than $50 or more with shipping! I only had to drive about 15 or 20 minutes to get it too. I probably won't actually use it until next week but I'm excited to have it! Semi-off topic update: DH is finally feeling good after stomach flu he is fuming. The guy who put in our DirecTV did all kinds of crappy things, including cutting the wire to our roof antenna (which we used to get non-local stations, including Windsor's channel 9 for Hockey Night in Canada, I love Don Cherry's suits, DH watches the games) to use it for the DirecTV hookup. This was a contractor through AT & T. I'll be calling AT & T Monday to talk with a manager and possibly the BBB to lodge a complaint. We're not into complaining but there are wires everywhere and the guy made a huge mess. DH did say he can very easily hook up my VCR in my basement workout room though so that I can use both the dish and the VCR without unplugging anything to use one or the other. That will at least make my workout experiences easy again (once I actually get a remote that works for that TV, AT & T is sending me a new one). I might get a weaker signal for the dish but that probably won't be a problem. We'll be saving a ton of money by switching but this has been a terrible experience. I hope it ends up being worthwhile (to have saved the money). More on-topic: We took the kids bowling yesterday afternoon. That was my fitness experience for that day. I don't even remember when we bowled last (a few years ago easily). DH and I used to bowl in a leagues together for years but neither of us was ever any good at it, we just had fun. I don't bowl anymore because of the stress it puts on my fingers (it usually triggers a vicious RA flare) and I'm thrilled that I protected them enough that I'm not flaring today (plus I took motrin as soon as walked in the door, I'm sure that helped). The only problem is that I wasn't putting my fingers all the way in the hole (my knuckles were a little swollen too so they weren't fitting well anyway) and it was tough on my wrist plus I wasn't able to control the ball well. I was surprised to actually feel my heart slightly elevated after each throw but, of course, with 4 people bowling on the same lane there was a lot more resting time than throwing time (and I'm sure it was nowhere near my training zone but I wasn't wearing my hrm) so I still didn't think of this as any sort of workout but that wasn't the point, we were just there to have fun as a family and any exercise benefit was a bonus. I was kind of surprised at how little strength I had in my wrist too because my arms and shoulders are so much stronger than they were when I was bowling regularly. I use a 12 lb. ball. My bowling shoes seemed tighter too. I said to DH, "I obviously bought these before I had kids!" Even though I'm probably 25 or 30 pounds lighter than I was when I was bowling league, my feet expanded and apparently never fully came back after pregnancies! For anyone who cares I think I bowled 84 the first game and 107 the 2nd game, something like that anyway. Like I said, I'm a lousy bowler but I don't care. There was another family bowling next to us for a while and we all had fun cheering each other on. The mom & I were joking about how Wii bowling had ruined us for the real thing!!! (The remote weighs a couple of ounces!) It was a lot of fun though! Off to make dinner rolls (in my bread machine and oven) and a veggie tray for Sunday and dye Easter eggs with the kids too! ** I already had Aerobic Body Shaping so if anyone wants to trade for it (especially Firm videos, I want the bootcamp one and the kickboxing one, the rest of the Jiggle Free series and tons of others so suggest anything, I've got a long list of other non Firm workouts that I'm interested in too) please email me privately! ** I'm also going to sell my small (home size) step with 4 sets of risers. If anyone in or near Michigan is interested please email me privately about that. I'll be putting it on craigslist soon. **
Guest guest
welcome to the valley of the finally figured it out. The LVH responds well to spiro but don't know about the epelorone. Guest guest
First, I think you may have me confused with since I am the one that saw significant improvement to LVH and got rid of my suppl. O2. (Just thought you should know if you are trying to follow a story.) Looks like you found an experienced doctor who is on the right track considering limited labs which I certainly understand since you have to fully support! Couple questions. Is the Benicar straight or a combo w/HCTZ? Did he stop your 6 BP meds cold or titrate off over a period of time? (Mine used the latter method over a few months and we are still discussing the last, a beta-blocker.) I had some very specific symptoms so I am able to establish a good timeline: -Started Spiro 25mg May 2010 and on to bid in a couple weeks *Bp dropped to well below goal almost immediately *Other symptoms remained until Apr 2011 (I have since learned this was likely due to NA being too high to take full advantage of Spiro) -The BIG day (April 23, 2011) *Realized I no longer had flank and testicle pain *Urination pattern changed drastically (from every 1-2 hrs during the day to every 5-6 hrs and from up 4 times at night to ZERO!) *Sleep from 1-2 hrs at a time to to 8 or more hrs at a time *That should be enough to lift anyones Doom & Gloom (brain fog) but we are not done yet! On July 18, 2011 I noticed the line for my O2 had become disconnected, I was on f/t O2 after being DXed w/COPD with O2 dipping into the low 80s in early 2010. I took the opportunity to monitor and it never got below 94 in half an hour (90 is the cutoff point). While I found this exciting, I was confused because I was resigned to the fact that COPD only went in one direction! When I posted the development Dr. Grim explained that LVH quickly starts to resolve and you will often see signs of that improvement in as little as 12 weeks! Do the math if you like but that was 12 wks and 3 days! In my case the correction allowed my LV, " the pump " , to supply more blood to my lungs which collected more O2 for my body eliminating my need for supplemental oxygen! (They pick 42 tanks and a concentrator up today and I get my garage back!) That sure was fun explaining it to my PCP and especially my Neprologhist, she's new in her career and was litterly speechless - a lesson of a lifetime! One thing I missed, in early June 2011 I had oral surgery (thanks DM2 and years of dry mouth, a result of years of abusing my body with needless and unwarrented BP Meds.!) Anticapating a change of diet after the removal of 17 teeth, I upped my am dose of Spiro to 50mg and left pm at 25mg. This is important because I now know that it caused diarreha every afternoon! I'm back on 25mg bid and life is GREAT again! (A good example of how a little change can make a big difference, especially since my BP never noticed the change!) This a little on the detailled side but I'm serving multiple purposes today. I promised our sister site regarding Bloodpressure a story and I need to update my story on this site. I'll leave you with one thought in particular: Salt, Sodium, NA or whatever you call it - Keep it LOW! DASH has helped keep my BP below goal amd very steady but I was in range before starting. I have found 5 different nut, seed, fruit mixes from Wellsley Farms that have less than 30mg of Sodium and low carb for my DM2. They sit on the counter right next to my Wife's, the shopper, Key Lime pie, angel food cake an pound cake - a good support system is also important! (She's showing me what I used to eat and I see the results in the evening as she naps in front of the TV and I research and type!) Oh, that reminds me - No naps anymore. I used to have 1 and sometimes 2, now it's 8 - 9 hrs of uninterrupted sleep at night and up for the day! Keep us posted, sounds like you've got a good start! Pass the dried fruit, please! (NA 2omg, K 160 mg, carbs 25g) - 64 yo morb. ob. male - 12mm X 13mm rt. a.adnoma with previous rt. flank & testicle pain. I have decided against an adrenalectomy at this time since Meds. are working so well. Current BP(last week ave): 123/69 Other Issues/Opportunities: OSA w Bi-Pap settings 13/19, DM2. and PTSD. Meds: Duloxetine hcl 80 MG, Mirtazapine 15 MG, Metoprolol Tartrate 200 MG, 81mg asprin, Metformin 2000MG and Spironolactone 50 MG. > > Hi , > I posted a couple of weeks ago how I was on 6 BP pills with a BP of 170/110. Guest guest
First, I think you may have me confused with since I am the one that saw significant improvement to LVH and got rid of my suppl. O2. (Just thought you should know if you are trying to follow a story.) you are correct, I did get your name mixed up but I am following your story. Looks like you found an experienced doctor who is on the right track considering limited labs which I certainly understand since you have to fully support! Couple questions. Is the Benicar straight or a combo w/HCTZ? Did he stop your 6 BP meds cold or titrate off over a period of time? (Mine used the latter method over a few months and we are still discussing the last, a beta-blocker.) Benicar is straight at 20mg daily. He stopped my meds cold turkey(well actually I did) after an old cardiologist wanted to start a 7th med even after I repeatedly told him I felt there was something else going on. And I was correct cause after stopping 6 meds cold turkey my BP was still 170/90. Now I understand that was very dangerous but I had already been in the hospital 4 times with bad side effects of those 6 drugs. I was almost bedridden. I had decided if i had to die of HTN it would be with dignity and with somewhat of a quality of life. Then I read a magazine called Best Doctor's and there was a hypertension specialist listed. I decided to giver him a call. It took me 2 months to see him. I had some very specific symptoms so I am able to establish a good timeline: -Started Spiro 25mg May 2010 and on to bid in a couple weeks *Bp dropped to well below goal almost immediately *Other symptoms remained until Apr 2011 (I have since learned this was likely due to NA being too high to take full advantage of Spiro) -The BIG day (April 23, 2011) *Realized I no longer had flank and testicle pain *Urination pattern changed drastically (from every 1-2 hrs during the day to every 5-6 hrs and from up 4 times at night to ZERO!) *Sleep from 1-2 hrs at a time to to 8 or more hrs at a time *That should be enough to lift anyones Doom & Gloom (brain fog) but we are not done yet! I started Inspra 50 mg and Benicar 20mg daily two weeks ago. I had no blood work so I couldnt get a definitive diagnosis of PA. I had a CBC and BMP at the doctors office. On July 18, 2011 I noticed the line for my O2 had become disconnected, I was on f/t O2 after being DXed w/COPD with O2 dipping into the low 80s in early 2010. It has only been two weeks and I swear I feel better all ready. I have cardiomyopathy and LVH. I found a site that has all the clinical trials using inspra. http://www.druglib.com/druginfo/inspra/trials/ This site is also interesting: http://www.druglib.com/druginfo/inspra/abstracts/ I'll leave you with one thought in particular: Salt, Sodium, NA or whatever you call it - Keep it LOW! (She's showing me what I used to eat and I see the results in the evening as she naps in front of the TV and I research and type!) This is where I am having a little difficulty but I am getting there. I am already getting a chart together on high potassium foods. Yesterday I though I was being good by having a vegetable Subway sandwich. When I checked the bread had 700 mg NA -ouch! I am also obese and I tend to work on this as well. Oh, that reminds me - No naps anymore. I used to have 1 and sometimes 2, now it's 8 - 9 hrs of uninterrupted sleep at night and up for the day! Keep us posted, sounds like you've got a good start! Guest guest
: thanks for the important story with details documenting changes. Note to rest of the troops: This is an excellent example of how keeping track of what is going on re BP and meds and diet etc can help you and your medical team get to goal.CE Grim MD First, I think you may have me confused with since I am the one that saw significant improvement to LVH and got rid of my suppl. Looks like you found an experienced doctor who is on the right track considering limited labs which I certainly understand since you have to fully support! Couple questions. Is the Benicar straight or a combo w/HCTZ? Did he stop your 6 BP meds cold or titrate off over a period of time? In my case the correction allowed my LV,"the pump", to supply more blood to my lungs which collected more O2 for my body eliminating my need for supplemental oxygen! Guest guest
The beauty of the DASH is that you don't have to lose weight for it to lower BP. But better to do both if you canWt and BP are poorly related in most people. Our research suggests that obesity pushs BP up only to 140/90 and it takes more to get it higher. Most likely all those salty Subways. Get the subway salt contents online. You may be in for a shock. I used to have a slide that showed how to get 4000 mg of sodium in one meal at Subway. And that was before you added salt so it tasted good.Just found the ppt. How can I set it up so others can play? Don't think we can do this at Yahoo. I have probably 30 talks, posters that would be of interest but do not know how to do them. Maybe same to Utube?Sorry it was Cousin's CE Grim MD First, I think you may have me confused with since I am the one that saw significant improvement to LVH and got rid of my suppl. This is where I am having a little difficulty but I am getting there. I am already getting a chart together on high potassium foods. Guest guest
Phyllis glad you saw the error of your ways at Subway and you didn't even get to the processed meat, I think I read most subs at subway are in the 1700 - 1900 range! Can I " supersize that " and add a cookie (for DM2) and oh yea chips - maybe we can get it up to a 2-day portion of NA if you are targetting 1500/day! Guest guest
I just went to their websites and it doesnt include the condiments, the pickles, etc! I think the subway sandwich was 2000mg and then I ate french fries with no added salt. I just read the labeling and it had 350mg before salt is even added! Amazing! Guest guest
But very common in fast foods. Maybe someone can put together a FAST FOOD DASH Diet.
