Wow, just one glass with dinner caused the insomnia and hot flashes?  Or was it more than a couple of glasses?I had one glass of white wine (fume blanc) with tilapia for dinner last night and was proud that I was able to just have one glass. Usually if I have one I want 3 or more.  I'm normally a binger!

If I have just one or two I'm fine but yes, the sugar content in alcohol and make for a light sleep, they say.I do so enjoy a good pinot noir too... mmmm... I don't need beer or any hard alcohol ever again but wine...mmm wine is divine!

Hi there,I had quit having wine a couple of months ago and have been sleeping like a baby. I had started to wonder if the alcohol use triggered my hot flashes and night sweats because I hadn't had any at all in a couple of months. Maybe it's a coincidence. Correlation isn't causation. However...

I eased up on my rule and had wine with dinner for three nights in a row. I'm on vacation. It was just wine with dinner followed by just water for the rest of the evening. Lo and behold, the insomnia and night sweats returned immediately. Each night I had wine with dinner, I had night sweats and insomnia. I had daytime hot flashes. The bad nights wrecked my morning workouts.  I quit drinking it again, and slept like a baby, and the hot flashes and night sweats stopped. Just like that!

I just did a search, and alcohol is a known trigger for hot flashes. I didn't know. It sure works that way for me. Too bad, because I love a good Pinot Noir. It tastes SO good, but even small amounts leave me drained after a sleepless night, too drained to make it worthwhile. It's too stupid a reason to wreck a morning workout.

I'll get used to it.Happy workouts.

Hey, just one glass will do it to me. I must just have a more tenuous hormonal balance right now. It might be just enough to throw off the balance. I really love my sleep. I need it badly. I need to be sharp at work.
