o , I'm so happy that everything turned out for the best. You are truly blessed to have such a loving and supportive family.

Your family sounds something like mine, out of 8 children 4 of us have HepC.

Take care hon and keep in touch.

Hi Everybody ~~

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that responded to my question about whether interferon was a "chemotherapy." They really helped me greatly to make sense of things. It also helped me in telling my family about tx -- saying it was a "long term, low-dose of chemotherapy" was something they could really relate to.

Well, I was finally ready....so I told my son and my parents about the Hep C and tx. My son (he's 26) took it very well and said, "Wow, Mom if you're going to lose your hair -- can I draw you some with my Sharpie pens?" He also said, "Well, Mom you know I'll give you one of my livers if you need it." (Of course, he was thinking of kidneys not liver -- but still it was a very endearing thought.) He was very accepting of me having gotten it and said, "It's not like it was something you did yesterday -- it was all those years ago that you made a bad choice." So really, all and all the conversation went very well with him and what can I say, he's a wonderful, loving son .

My parents were understandably upset, but they were very gracious and accepting as well. They are somewhat familiar with Hep C as I have two brothers that have it -- one who treated and didn't clear, and one who ignores it. That was the real moment of sadness for my Dad at the realization that 3 of his 5 kids have it. They are of the same mind as my son, it was something that happened a long time ago...it's just catching up with me now. They are very supportive of tx. They said, "This doesn't change anything and we will get through this together.

So, all in all I am a very fortunate woman!! You can't ask for anything better than being loved and supported by those I love!!! Plus, I have this incredible husband who is walking right beside me.

Thanks to all of you, and their help, I can have the courage to do what I need to do.

You're awesome,

I

have a good friend & out of 6 kids, 3 have it. One died in 04 while I was

on tx, one died from an OD, one is pretending it doesn’t exist, drinking

& drugging and getting sicker & sicker. Ignoring it doesn’t

work, folks.

But it is easier... LOL sorry I know its not funny. I love that one billboard at bus stops have you guys seen it. It says: "If hep C was attacking your face would you do something about it. " (and it has a picture of this guys face all scared up) H*ll yeah I would. That just shows us that just because we cant see it alot of people don't think it is serious. I wish people did understand how debilitating this disease can be.Doctors still insist that hep c isn't a good enough reason to be disabled and qualify for a pension. So if the doctors are don't take this disease seriously, how can ordinary people understand.

You're so welcome sweetie, people here and offline have been so kind and generous with me..... I believe in karma! I'm sure that something good will come out of this, if nothing else but that it is bringing people together who otherwise wouldn't have ever met. I believe that each of use have unique gifts and by bonding with others, we are so blessed!
